NO WAFL club has ever won two premiership hat-tricks as close together as Subiaco could by winning Sunday's Grand Final and coach Jarrad Schofield would have been involved in all six, but his focus is on wanting to see his players receive reward for all the hard work they put in. Subiaco won three straight WAFL premierships in 2006, 2007 and 2008 with Schofield a key player in each of those triumphs on return to the Lions after an AFL career with West Coast, Port Adelaide and Fremantle that included the 2004 premiership with the Power. SUBIACO midfielder Leigh Kitchin has the chance to become a dual WAFL premiership player in just his 43rd game with the Lions in Sunday's Grand Final as he continues to thrive in his move west. Following the 2014 Grand Final victory over East Perth, Subiaco had to do some quick work to replace Simpson Medallist Jason Bristow in the midfield and they could not have possibly found a more like for like replacement than Kitchin. PEEL Thunder coach Cam Shepherd is proud of the work that has gone into Peel Thunder making history by qualifying for a first WAFL Grand Final this Sunday against Subiaco, and he can't wait to see if his in-form team can produce one more outstanding effort. When Shepherd took over as coach of Peel ahead of the 2013 season, the club had never played in a WAFL final and had never come close to doing so. A SANDOVER and Simpson Medal winning season could very well see Jye Bolton earn an AFL chance but if it doesn't he will be more than happy to remain at Claremont in 2017 under new coach Darren Harris. Bolton arrived at Claremont at the start of 2016 having finished his 2015 season in the VFL sidelined with a foot injury that hadn't allowed him to do any pre-season training as yet. Peel Thunder has won its way through to its first ever WAFL Grand Final after securing a 39-point Premilinary Final win over South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday, September 18. The Thunder take on reigning premiers Subiaco at Domain Stadium this Sunday after the side proved to be too good for the Bulldogs, running home with a 16.13 (109) to 10.10 (70) victory last weekend. CLAREMONT'S Jye Bolton has capped a remarkable first WAFL season with the Tigers on-baller adding the Sandover Medal to his Simpson Medal in a vote count that featured all the expected favourites on Monday night. The Sandover Medal count for 2016 was held at Perth Convention Exhibition Centre and while Peel Thunder's Matt de Boer, Perth's Clint Jones, East Fremantle's Liam Anthony, West Perth's Shane Nelson and Subiaco's Chris Phelan all went close, it was Bolton who took out the award. It was a thrilling vote count with Ashton Hams racing out to an early lead with 25 votes after 10 rounds despite being ineligible. He was runner-up to Perth's Aidan Tropiano last year but he didn’t add to his 25 votes the rest of the count. Read More ...

PROLIFIC ball winners Clint Jones and Jye Bolton might appear warm favourites heading into the 2016 Sandover Medal count but that doesn't mean players from Subiaco, Peel Thunder and West Perth in particular don't have a real chance. West Australian football's most prestigious individual award will be presented at Perth Convention Exhibition Centre this Monday night with a live broadcast of the count live on 91.3 SportFM. PEEL Thunder has won its way through to the 2016 WAFL Grand Final booking in a meeting with Subiaco after a 39-point preliminary final win over South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday. Peel was coming off the first two finals victories in the club's history over East Perth by 49 points and West Perth by 60, but South Fremantle had finished second spot on the ladder and had also beaten West Perth by 52 points before a second semi-final loss last week to Subiaco. It was Peel who made the fast start with three goals inside the first 11 minutes of the game.
