ROUND 7 of the 2016 McDonald's WAFL Premiership Season concluded on Sunday with East Fremantle responding to conceding the first four goals to kick the next seven and beat East Perth by 37 points at Medibank Stadium. The round got underway on Saturday with Subiaco remaining undefeated by handing South Fremantle its first loss of 2016, winning 15.16 (106) to 10.15 (75) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. West Perth also won a thriller 15.11 (101) to 15.4 (94) over Claremont in Kulin while Peel Thunder defeated Perth 19.9 (123) to 7.4 (46) at Bendigo Bank Stadium. Read More ...

SUBIACO flexed its muscles as the WAFL team to beat in 2016 winning its top of the table clash on Saturday over South Fremantle while Peel Thunder and West Perth also scored impressive Round 7 victories. South Fremantle and Subiaco had both won their opening five matches of the season heading into Saturday's clash at Fremantle Community Bank Oval, but the Lions were in control most of the afternoon. The Bulldogs did close to within two points early in the last quarter but the Lions kicked away again to win 15.16 (106) to 10.15 (75). The other two matches on Saturday saw West Perth win a thriller 15.11 (101) to 15.4 (94) over Claremont in Kulin while Peel Thunder proved too good for Perth winning 19.9 (123) to 7.4 (46) at Bendigo Bank Stadium. Simpson, fellow recruits standing tall for Sharks

EAST Fremantle might have lost last Saturday's Anzac Derby but there were signs aplenty to excite Sharks fans for the rest of 2016 and none more so than the performances of Jesse Crichton, Matthew Watson and Josh Simpson. Following a horror end to the 2015 season where the Sharks lost 12 of their last 13 matches coming off a preliminary final appearance in 2014, incoming coach Rob Wiley knew that he had to add some recruits to the team he was inheriting. But he kept largely to those either he or East Fremantle was familiar with. Wiley was able to lure Watson to join him at the Sharks after the pair had an assistant coach and player relationship together in the AFL at Carlton. Read More ...

ROUND 7 of the 2016 McDonald's WAFL Premiership Season is highlighted by Saturday's battle of the undefeated teams South Fremantle and Subiaco while on Sunday there's plenty at stake in the televised contest between East Perth and East Fremantle. There will be three matches on Saturday afternoon with the standout fixture featuring South Fremantle against Subiaco at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with neither team having tasted defeat so far in 2016 after five matches. The two other matches on Saturday see Peel Thunder host Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium while West Perth takes on Claremont in Kulin. 2016 DEPPRO State 18s Academy squad announced

A talented group of 40 WAFL players have been selected to participate in the 2016 DEPPRO WA State 18s Academy program. All players will be eligible for selection in the 2016 NAB AFL State 18s Championships in June. Another premiership star set to return for Falcons in Kulin

WEST Perth received a huge boost with the return of Shane Nelson in Saturday's win over Swan Districts and now another premiership star is set to make a comeback this week for the Falcons' trip to Kulin to take on Claremont. West Perth has had a horror run of injuries to key players to start 2016 and that has played a part in the Falcons' losing four of their opening five games heading into Saturday's clash with Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval. But the surprise early return of Nelson from a fractured finger gave West Perth a significant psychological boost, but he also delivered in performance with 28 possessions after quarter-time to have a big say in the Falcons' eventual 23-point victory. Bulldogs primed for challenge against the Lions

SOUTH Fremantle has had a blistering start to the 2016 WAFL season but the Bulldogs are yet to take on two-time reigning premiers Subiaco and coach Todd Curley is confident they are ready for that challenge this Saturday. South Fremantle has won its opening five games of the 2016 season with an average winning margin of 46 points while holding the opposition to only 55 points a game with East Fremantle's 87 points and seven-point margin the best any opponent has done against them to date. The Bulldogs have looked tremendous beating West Perth, Swan Districts, East Perth, Perth and then in the Anzac Derby East Fremantle, but there's no question the biggest challenge is coming this Saturday in the form of Subiaco at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. WAFC looks to attract more umpires to the Female Competitions

The West Australian Football Commission has appointed Glen Morgan as Female Football Umpire Coordinator for season 2016 to help attract more umpires to Female Competitions and develop their umpiring skills. WAFC Female Football Coordinator Allana Dickie said the appointment was an important step toward developing plans to improve the standard of umpiring within the female competitions. "Glen brings a wealth of football experience and enthusiasm with him to his new role, which I am confident will attract new umpires into the system as we progress toward a national competition next year,” Dickie said. SOUTH Fremantle remained unbeaten to set up a clash of the undefeated sides with Subiaco after a thrilling ANZAC Derby win over East Fremantle while West Perth, East Perth and Peel Thunder all scored impressive victories in Round 6 as well. Over 3000 people saw a thrilling ANZAC Derby between the Sharks and Bulldogs at ATOM Stadium with South Fremantle winning 13.16 (94) to 13.9 (87) for a seventh straight victory over East Fremantle at Shark Park. Peel Thunder finished strongly at Medibank Stadium to beat Claremont 11.17 (83) to 8.14 (62) while East Perth scored a third straight win defeating Perth 17.9 (111) to 10.7 (67) at Lathlain Park and West Perth overcame Swan Districts 13.14 (92) to 10.9 (69) at Steel Blue Oval. SOUTH Fremantle prevailed in a cracking Anzac Derby clash against East Fremantle to remain undefeated in Round 6 of the WAFL on Saturday with Peel Thunder, West Perth and East Perth recording strong victories. The Anzac Round of the 2016 McDonald's WAFL Premiership Season all took place on Saturday afternoon staring with Peel Thunder defeating Claremont 11.17 (83) to 8.14 (62), West Perth beating Swan Districts 13.14 (92) to 10.9 (69) and East Perth downing Perth 17.9 (111) to 10.7 (67). Then at ATOM Stadium in the Anzac Derby, East Fremantle hit the front with a stirring run of three quick late goals with time expiring.
