WAFL Count Me In Round: A fair go for everyone

The WAFL will be kicking goals for access and inclusion when the State’s Count Me In vision is promoted at all WAFL games in Round 5 this weekend. The Count Me In round, which has been developed in a partnership between the Disability Services Commission, the WA Football Commission and the Department of Sport and Recreation, will promote the State Government’s aspiration that we all live in welcoming communities that facilitate citizenship, friendship, mutual support and a fair go for everyone. Round 5 Saturday McDonald's WAFL Results

SOUTH Fremantle scored the biggest win of the WAFL season to remain unbeaten to open Round 5 on Saturday with Claremont bouncing back and East Perth winning a second consecutive match. Three of the four Round 5 matches took place on Saturday afternoon with South Fremantle improving to a 4-0 record with a 21.10 (136) to 4.14 (38) victory over Perth at Lathlain Park. McDonald's WAFL Round 5 Preview

ROUND 5 of the 2016 McDonald's WAFL Premiership Season is again split over Saturday and Sunday with a Perth derby with both teams desperate to win while Swan Districts looks to build on the momentum of their first win of the year against the unbeaten reigning premiers. The round gets underway on Saturday afternoon with three matches where East Perth faces West Perth at Medibank Stadium, East Fremantle takes on Claremont at ATOM Stadium and Perth hosts South Fremantle at Lathlain Park. Rejuvenated Clutterbuck savouring passion at Swan Districts

FREDDIE Clutterbuck savoured his first win since joining Swan Districts on Sunday but even during a tough opening three weeks for his new club he was already enjoying his football more than he has in years. Clutterbuck became a regular member of the East Perth team as a hard-running wingman after making his debut in 2010. His leadership was recognised quickly with him added to the leadership group while still relatively inexperienced and he brought up his 100th game with the Royals last season. Read More ...


Newly appointed WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor fronts media

Gavin Taylor has been formally appointed as the new Chief Executive of the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) after an extensive recruitment process. Gavin is currently the Interim Chief Executive Officer, WAFC, and was previously in charge of the organisation’s stadium operations division, Perth Stadium Management as General Manager. He has held senior roles at the WAFC for the past six years. WAFC Chairman Murray McHenry said the appointment of Mr Taylor ensured the organisation had a dynamic and strategic leader with a sound understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Football. Round 4 McDonald's WAFL Wrap Up

EAST Perth and Swan Districts scored their first wins of the 2016 McDonald's WAFL Premiership Season in Round 4 on the weekend while Subiaco stayed unbeaten and East Fremantle was impressive against last year's grand finalist. The round got underway on Saturday afternoon with East Fremantle kicking the first six goals on the way to beating West Perth 14.17 (101) to 7.9 (51) at ATOM Stadium. East Perth also got on the board in 2016 kicking four of the last five goals to beat Peel Thunder 15.14 (104) to 11.8 (74) at Bendigo Bank Stadium. Then on Sunday, Claremont kicked six goals to one in the first quarter and dominated just about all areas except the scoreboard against Swan Districts, and paid for it with Swans the last four goals to win 13.5 (83) to 10.17 (77) at Steel Blue Oval. And finally Subiaco booted 12 of the first 13 goals to set up a 14.9 (93) to 4.19 (43) victory over Perth at Lathlain Park. Following four rounds, Subiaco (4-0) sits atop the ladder ahead of the also unbeaten South Fremantle (3-0). East Fremantle (2-1) is third ahead of Peel Thunder (2-2), Claremont (1-2), West Perth (1-3), Perth (1-2), East Perth (1-3) and Swan Districts (1-3). Read More ...

SUBIACO remained unbeaten with a dominant WAFL win over Perth on Sunday while Swan Districts overcame a slow start to overrun Claremont to gets its opening win of 2016. Round 4 began on Saturday with East Perth beating Peel Thunder by 30 points and East Fremantle defeating West Perth by 50. Then on Sunday, Subiaco kicked 12 of the first 13 goals to beat Perth 14.9 (93) to 4.19 (43) at Medibank Stadium while Swan Districts looked dead and buried at quarter-time, but found a way back to defeat Claremont 13.5 (83) to 10.17 (77) at Steel Blue Oval. East Fremantle was coming off a bye and won all three grades over West Perth at ATOM Stadium by a combined 170 points with the league side running out 14.17 (101) to 7.9 (51) winners.
