Sally Boud is proof that good things happen to good people. On Saturday, Boud made her AFL goal umpiring debut when Fremantle clashed with GWS at Domain Stadium.
Since signing her AFL contract, there has been a significant amount of interest in Boud’s progression because she is the first female from Western Australia to gain a position on the AFL panel.
But while Boud’s gender is impossible to ignore, so was her talent. A dual WAFL grand final umpire, Boud has also officiated in a Foxtel Cup grand final. In an era of strong competition for positions in the WAFL goal umpiring ranks, Boud stood out ahead of her colleagues.
