SUBIACO and West Perth go to battle for a third time this season after two tight battles already in 2017 with the Lions hunting an 18th straight win but the Falcons needing to prevail to stay in the finals race. The two teams have built up quite the rivalry that has continued in recent years including in the 2015 grand final and so far this season even though Subiaco has beaten West Perth twice, the Falcons have done the best out of any side against the Lions. Subiaco comes into Saturday's game at Leederville Oval on a 17-game winning streak and that includes wins over West Perth in Round 3 at HBF Arena and also back at the Joondalup venue in Round 15. Friday, August 18, 2017 - 10:57 PM - by Chris Pike
HE has earned his reputation as the best lockdown defender in the WAFL and while the journey to 100 games has had a few more injury hurdles than he would have liked, East Perth co-captain Kyle Anderson couldn’t be prouder to get there this Saturday. Anderson made the move from Margaret River to join East Perth to first play colts back in 2009 and impressed sufficiently to make his league debut and play five matches and show exciting signs for the future as a teenager. But it wouldn’t be until Round 1, 2011 that he made another appearance in the league side and virtually ever since then when he has been healthy, Anderson has built his reputation as the best and most respected lockdown defender in the WAFL. Hard nut, premiership star Manning reaches 100 with Falcons

Friday, August 18, 2017 - 10:57 AM - by Chris Pike
THERE is much more to West Perth premiership star Kody Manning than his reputation as the inspirational hard man of the WAFL even if that style of play that has likely stopped him reaching 100 games with the Falcons before this Saturday. Manning remains the standout player in the WAFL who can inspire his team through his physicality and that's not to say he isn’t fair and doesn’t have a lot of other strings to his bow. The 2013 premiership player simply plays in a style where he thrives on the physical contact and whether that means he lays a big bump, puts on a crunching tackle or bursts through a contest or a pack, he just goes about his football in a way that you rarely see in the modern day. Monday, August 14, 2017 - 9:23 AM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle was better able to take its chances with the breeze at Claremont Oval on Saturday to win by 32 points and make it eight in-a-row and all but end the finals hopes of Claremont in the process.   South Fremantle came into the clash at Claremont Oval unable to move from second position on the ladder but there were plenty of pressure on for spots at the Bulldogs meaning no player in the 22 will be looking to drop their form over the last three weeks.   Meanwhile, Claremont just had to win to stay a realistic finals chance in 2017 setting the stage for a terrific contest.
