Round 19 – East Fremantle v Subiaco Match Report

Monday, July 31, 2017 - 3:19 AM - by Chris Pike
SUBIACO cruised to a 16th straight WAFL victory this season opening an 80-point lead by three quarter-time and going on to beat East Fremantle by 61 points at East Fremantle Oval on Saturday.   East Fremantle had reason to think it could take it up to Subiaco after putting in a good showing in Round 10 and also being in reasonable form prior to the bye winning two of its past five games, and being strongly competitive in two of those other losses.   But Subiaco didn’t come into the contest feeling any sense of over-confidence starting strongly and opening up an 80-point lead by three quarter-time. Round 19 – South Fremantle v West Perth Match Report

Monday, July 31, 2017 - 3:16 AM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle made it six straight wins this WAFL season and six in-a-row against West Perth with a 47-point victory at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday.   South Fremantle was able to win by 47 points for the second straight time against West Perth, but it was a vastly more competitive showing all-round from the Falcons except in front of goals.   In the end, the Bulldogs kicked 20 goals from 26 scoring shots and the Falcons 11 from 24 and that was the major difference in the contest as South Fremantle went on to win 20.6 (126) to 11.13 (79). Round 19 – Claremont v East Perth Match Report

Monday, July 31, 2017 - 3:15 AM - by Chris Pike
PLENTY was on the line at Claremont Oval with Claremont hosting East Perth and it went right down to the wire with the Tigers storming home but the Royals just withstood the charge for the crucial four-point victory.   With the winner to move within a game of fifth position with West Perth losing to South Fremantle and the loser remaining two games behind with just four rounds of the season remaining, there was plenty at stake at Claremont Oval on Saturday.   The Royals started strongly with the help of the breeze in some wet conditions with the only three goals of the opening quarter. But the Tigers responded to lead by a point at half-time. Read More ...

Round 19 – Swan Districts v Peel Thunder Match Report

Monday, July 31, 2017 - 3:12 AM - by Chris Pike
SWAN Districts joined Peel Thunder on 10 wins for the 2017 season with a come from behind 16-point victory at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday.   It was never going to be a high-scoring affair considering the two teams are the lowest two teams for points for in the competition aside from the bottom two out of contention teams with the wet conditions on Saturday only serving to highlight that even more.   What that meant was that a 19-point lead for Peel during the third quarter threatened to be a match-winning advantage.  Read More ...

Round 19 Preview - Claremont v East Perth

Saturday, July 29, 2017 - 7:27 AM - by Chris Pike
CLAREMONT and East Perth both currently sit on the same records two games out of the top five clinging to finals hopes meaning that the winner on Saturday remains in the hunt and the loser falls all but out of contention. That sets the scene for a cracking contest at Claremont Oval on Saturday with both team's seasons virtually on the line. Both of them have shown enough to suggest they can be dangerous on their day if they sneak into the finals but they just haven’t been able to produce that form consistently enough. But Saturday shapes as a season-defining contest for both clubs and it will be broadcast live on Channel 7 from 3pm. Read More ...

Round 19 Preview - East Fremantle v Subiaco

Saturday, July 29, 2017 - 6:54 AM - by Chris Pike
EAST Fremantle is in its best patch of form of the season and is off the bottom of the WAFL ladder but the task ahead on Saturday is a sizeable one hosting the league-leading Subiaco on a 15-game winning run at East Fremantle Oval. Even though East Fremantle had the bye last weekend, the Sharks saw themselves move off the bottom of the ladder with Perth's percentage falling below theirs in the Demons' loss to West Perth. And having lost its opening 10 matches of the season, East Fremantle had won two of its past five matches prior to the bye last weekend so things are definitely on the improve since the horror start. Round 19 Preview - South Fremantle v West Perth

Saturday, July 29, 2017 - 1:35 AM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle has dominated West Perth over the past two WAFL seasons with the Bulldogs looking to continue that at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday while the Falcons are out to turn it around to further consolidate a finals spot. The two teams have already met twice this season with the Bulldogs winning on both occasions ahead of Saturday's contest at the port that pits the second placed South Fremantle against the fifth placed West Perth. There's plenty on the line for both teams with South Fremantle looking to win and further cement itself in second position whereas a loss will leave the door open for the chasing pack to still try and finish second over the last month of the season. Centurion Blee's passion for the Royals never stronger

Friday, July 28, 2017 - 4:28 PM - by Chris Pike
HAVING grown up wanting to play with East Perth, getting an AFL chance because of the Royals and now returning to the club since, Nathan Blee can't envision himself playing anywhere else and couldn’t be more proud about reaching his 100-game milestone. Blee came through the ranks at East Perth in the development squads then colts and reserves before a standout 2011 season at league level once given his opportunities by then coach Tony Micale. That earned him the chance to spend two years in the AFL system at Port Adelaide where he played six games before finding himself delisted at the end of 2013. Read More ...

Friday, July 28, 2017 - 2:29 PM - by Chris Pike
SWAN Districts can take a step towards claiming third position in the WAFL on Saturday taking on reigning premiers Peel Thunder at Steel Blue Oval.
