South Fremantle and Perth will play in Carnarvon this weekend as part of the State Government’s Country Sports Enrichment Scheme (CSES). The Round 20 game on Saturday August 6 will kick off at 1.30pm at Carnarvon Festive Grounds and be hosted by the Gascoyne Football Association. The West Australian State 15s AFL Female Team battled it out in the National 15s Grand Final after the side secured strong victories in all its matches in the week-long carnival held in Queensland. SUBIACO enjoyed Thursday night football last week beating South Fremantle at Medibank Stadium to move two games clear on top of the WAFL ladder and doing so while making do in the ruck with a young star shining up forward and veterans leading through the middle. The top two teams did battle last Thursday night as the Lions hosted the Bulldogs in a third night fixture on a Thursday between the two clubs this decade, but it was the first televised live on 7mate. It turned out to be a ratings hit and a crowd of 1441 was also impressive considering the terribly wet, cold and windy conditions. It was a win-win for the WAFL in the Thursday night experiment and for Subiaco it looks set to go a long way to securing another minor premiership. Read More ...

DEMANDS on his time have meant Michael Broadbridge has decided to not continue on as Claremont coach in 2017 following a three years where the Tigers' best has been impressive, but ultimately they will be left feeling unfulfilled. Broadbridge took over as Claremont coach following a four-year run under Simon McPhee and then Marc Webb that brought about four consecutive minor premierships, three grand finals, two premierships and a preliminary final.
