Tuesday, June 12, 2018 - 11:16 AM - by Chris Pike
THE gap between the top and bottom placed teams in the WAFL only grew on Saturday with Subiaco remaining undefeated in 2018 beating East Fremantle by 103 points at Leederville Oval.   Subiaco was refreshed coming off the bye and took on an East Fremantle team on a five-day break after losing on Monday by 73 points to South Fremantle in the WA Day Foundation Derby.   That only further widened the gap between the two teams with the Sharks also not helped by losing Nick Kommer and Jarrad Jansen from Monday to Saturday, but no matter how you look at it, the Lions barely had to raise a sweat. Round 10 Match Report – Perth v South Fremantle

Tuesday, June 12, 2018 - 10:53 AM - by Chris Pike
PERTH had not beaten South Fremantle since spoiling the 300-game celebration of Kris Miller but that all changed at Lathlain Park on Saturday with the Demons finishing all over the Bulldogs for a spirited six-point victory.   That last win for Perth over South Fremantle was way back in Round 2, 2014 when Miller was celebrating his 300th WAFL appearance under lights at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.   Perth produced a stunning comeback from 44 points down that night to score a stirring win. It didn't quite spark a rise up the ladder the Demons were hoping then, but they will be hoping to build on the momentum from Saturday's performance now. Read More ...

Round 10 Match Report – Claremont v Swan Districts

Tuesday, June 12, 2018 - 10:40 AM - by Chris Pike
CLAREMONT needed a win to stay in the finals race and had the added motivation to farewell Beau Maister in style on Saturday, and the Tigers went on to kick the only four goals of the last quarter to beat Swan Districts by 20 points.   Swan Districts came into Saturday's game at Claremont Oval in fourth position with a 5-3 record and coming off solid wins against East Perth and Perth since a three-week break in between games.   That meant they rightly went into the contest full of confidence with Claremont having won just two of eight games for the season as well, but it was an inspired Tigers outfit on Saturday that revived life back into their 2018 season. Sunday, June 10, 2018 - 5:00 PM - by Chris Pike
THE even nature of the WAFL competition aside from the top and bottom placed teams was on show in Round 10 on Saturday with upset victories for Claremont, Peel Thunder and Perth against teams occupying fourth, third and second positions on the ladder. All four of the Round 10 matches that took place on Saturday afternoon pitted teams in the top four positions against the team bottom four sides in the competition with the fifth placed East Perth having the bye. Round 10 Preview – Subiaco v East Fremantle

Friday, June 8, 2018 - 2:08 PM - by Chris Pike
SUBIACO has dominated the WAFL so far in 2018 and is now fresh following the bye heading into Saturday's clash with the wounded bottom placed East Fremantle at Leederville Oval. Subiaco comes into the Round 10 contest having won all seven of its matches in 2018 and having won the last three against East Fremantle along with 22 of its last 23 at Leederville Oval meaning the job is well and truly ahead of a Sharks outfit coming off a short break and 12-goal derby loss.  Take out East Fremantle winning three straight matches against Subiaco in 2013, the Lions have been remarkably dominant against the Sharks since 2000. Friday, June 8, 2018 - 1:43 PM - by Chris Pike
PERTH is back home to Lathlain Park on Saturday looking to put together a four quarter showing in an attempt to stop an eight-game losing run against South Fremantle. Perth might have won just two games so far in 2018 to be sitting in second last position on the ladder, but that doesn't quite tell the whole story of the competitiveness of the Demons. That can be best summed up over the past fortnight with Perth delivering two strong performances against Subiaco and Swan Districts who possess a combined 12-3 record over the start of the 2018 season.
