Round 12 Colts Wrap

Tuesday, June 26, 2018 - 4:39 PM - by Chris Pike
PEEL Thunder replaced Swan Districts on top of the WAFL Colts ladder without playing a game in Round 12 with Subiaco beating Swan Districts while West Perth stayed in touch with a top five position and East Perth got close to climbing out of the cellar. It's a remarkably tight WAFL colts competition so far in 2018 with only four games separating the top and bottom placed teams with Peel Thunder holding a 7-3 record and East Perth 3-7. That means that all nine teams still remain a chance to take part in finals action in 2018 and it makes every game that takes place fascinating not only for the result, but the exciting young talent on display. Round 12 Match Report – Swan Districts v Subiaco

Tuesday, June 26, 2018 - 3:00 PM - by Chris Pike
SUBIACO kicked the first nine goals of the game on the way to yet another empathic performance as the undefeated league-leaders beat Swan Districts by 82 points at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday.   Swan Districts had taken heart from a good start against Subiaco back in Round 3 where they led at quarter-time despite ending up losing that game at Leederville Oval by 96 points.   But there would be no repeat of that on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval with the Lions kicking the first nine goals of the game and Swans going goalless until the 12-minute mark of the second quarter. Round 12 Match Report – East Perth v Claremont

Tuesday, June 26, 2018 - 1:45 PM - by Chris Pike
CLAREMONT moved to within a whisker of breaking into the WAFL's top five beating East Perth by 32 points at Leederville Oval on Saturday.   East Perth and Claremont came into the contest at Leederville Oval with plenty on the line for both clubs, but it was the Tigers who were on top from the outset and were never really headed.   Claremont had opened a 33-point advantage just before half-time and while East Perth had got back within nine points by early in the third term, the Tigers pulled away from there. Round 12 Preview – West Perth v Perth

Saturday, June 23, 2018 - 8:26 AM - by Chris Pike
WEST Perth might be on a 14-game winning run against Perth, but the Demons have likely never entered any of those matches with more confidence setting the stage for a cracking contest Saturday at Joondalup Arena. The Falcons have dominated the Demons for some time now not only having won the last 14 meetings, but 18 of the last 19. Going back further ever since Perth won four straight against West Perth in 1991 and 1992, the Falcons have won 50 of the 62 meetings between the two teams. Perth has won just 11 of those 62 games with a 2008 draw at Lathlain Park thrown in. Read More ...

Round 12 Preview – Swan Districts v Subiaco

Saturday, June 23, 2018 - 8:01 AM - by Chris Pike
SWAN Districts is the latest team to have the challenge of trying to topple Subiaco this Saturday at Steel Blue Oval and the black-and-whites are no strangers to upsetting the Lions. Swans might have only beaten the Lions in eight of their previous 25 meetings, but two of those have been stunning one-point upsets back in Round 13, 2008, and then Round 20, 2015. The black-and-whites will be looking to channel that spirit on Saturday back on home turf to attempt to end Subiaco's nine-game winning run this season and the Lions run of winning six in-a-row against Swans.
