WAFL Round 2 Preview

ROUND 2 of the 2015 McDonald's WAFL Premiership season sees all four finals teams from last year match up against one another while West Perth and Perth look to bounce back from disappointing starts to their campaigns. All four matches take place on Saturday afternoon with East Fremantle playing Subiaco at East Fremantle's ATOM Stadium, East Perth hosting Swan Districts at Leederville's Medibank Stadium and West Perth facing Peel Thunder at Joondalup's HBF Arena. All three matches bounce down at 2.15pm. Then at 2.40pm, this week's broadcast game on 7mate sees Perth host South Fremantle at Lathlain Park. Read More ...


Big plans for Harmony Day at East Fremantle

The East Fremantle Football Club are celebrating Harmony Day this Saturday, March 28, during their Round 2 match vs Subiaco. The celebrations began months ago, when the Sharks asked local school students to design a Harmony Day Flag for the Club. The club received over 100 entries and selected 6 finalists, who will attend the game on Saturday and fly their flags at quarter time, before the presentation to the winner by the Minister of Multicultural Interests, the Hon Mike Nahan. The West Australian Football League has partnered with China Southern Airlines to highlight a Player of the Week throughout the 2015 McDonald’s WAFL Premiership Season. WAFC Chief Operating Officer Nick Sautner said the China Southern WAFL Player of the Week would be announced during each round’s 7 Network broadcast game and go in the draw to win China Southern flights at the end of the year. Round 1 WAFL Wrap Up

SOUTH Fremantle, Swan Districts, Subiaco and East Fremantle all opened the 2015 McDonald's WAFL Premiership season in style recording impressive Round 1 victories across the weekend. The opening round of the 2015 WAFL season began on Friday night with South Fremantle beating West Perth 14.6 (90) to 8.7 (55) in front of a strong crowd of 2370 at Fremantle Oval. Then on Saturday afternoon, Swan Districts thumped Perth 21.21 (147) to 7.9 (51) in front of another good attendance of 2131 at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval. The Saturday twilight fixtures saw Subiaco beat Claremont 15.16 (106) to 9.7 (61) at Leederville's Medibank Stadium. And then finally, 5200 people attended Domain Stadium and a strong viewing audience tuned in on 7mate as East Fremantle beat East Perth 13.18 (96) to 5.11 (41). Read More ...

WAFL Colts to compete for RediMed Cup

The West Australian Football League Colts will compete for the RediMed Cup in 2015 as part of an integrated WA Football sponsorship with local health services provider RediMed. WAFC Chief Operating Officer Nick Sautner said the sponsorship would also include logos on Colts apparel and branding recognition through the WAFL Talent Academy, WA Amateur Football League, WAFC Multicultural Programs, Integrated Football State Team and WAFC High School Boys Cup. SWAN Districts, Subiaco and East Fremantle all recorded emphatic WAFL Round 1 victories on Saturday to back up South Fremantle kicking off the 2015 season with a win on Friday night. South Fremantle opened the WAFL season beating West Perth 14.6 (90) to 8.7 (55) at Fremantle Oval on Friday night leading into three big matches right throughout Saturday afternoon and night. The first game on Saturday was in the traditional 2.15pm time slot with Swan Districts recording a thumping 21.21 (147) to 7.9 (51) win over Perth at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval. The twilight fixture then saw reigning premiers Subiaco beat Claremont 15.16 (106) to 9.7 (61) at Leederville's Medibank Stadium before the opening round wrapped up on Saturday night at Domain Stadium with East Fremantle defeating East Perth 13.18 (96) to 5.11 (41). Bulldogs with too much bite for Falcons to open season

SOUTH Fremantle and West Perth both entered the 2015 McDonald's WAFL Premiership season with hopes of returning to the finals this season and after Friday night's 35-point win it appears the Bulldogs are right on track to do so. South Fremantle hasn’t played in the finals since 2011 but sent a message that it is ready to fire in 2015 under new coach Todd Curley with the 14.6 (90) to 8.7 (55) in front of a crowd of 2370 at Fremantle Oval on Friday night. West Perth missed the finals in 2014 coming off the premiership in 2013, but still has the majority of those who played in that flag in its squad and will be confident that the disappointing start to the new season on Friday night will be quickly rectified. THE 2015 McDonald's WAFL Premiership season begins this Friday night at Fremantle Oval and concludes with the highly-anticipated showcase clash at Domain Stadium on Saturday night. There is perhaps as much talk and hype surrounding the opening of the WAFL season than at any other time in recent history and that leads into an exciting opening round. The action begins on Friday night with South Fremantle taking on West Perth at Fremantle Oval. Then on Saturday afternoon, Swan Districts plays Perth at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval before Subiaco hosts Claremont at Leederville's Medibank Stadium in a twilight fixture. The round concludes on Saturday night with East Fremantle playing East Perth at Subiaco's Domain Stadium in a clash featuring two of last year's top three teams. Read More ...
