Retiring White reflects on Bulldogs career that almost went south

Friday, August 21, 2015 - 4:04 PM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle life member and dual premiership star Craig White looks set to finish his decorated career against Peel Thunder and that could be a fitting end after it was only the efforts of Marty Atkins that saw him not play with the Mandurah-based club in the first place. Having grown up in Williams and having his parents live in Mandurah once he'd finished school at Aquinas College, White was weighing up whether or not to remain at South Fremantle or join Peel Thunder ahead of the 2004 WAFL season following the colts premiership. A meeting with Peel coach and former Geelong AFL champion Garry Hocking had him on the verge of agreeing to join the Thunder, but the efforts of Bulldogs games record holder and then football manager Atkins ended up seeing White remain at South Fremantle. Scoring 100 points a must if Swans want chance at finals

Friday, August 21, 2015 - 11:31 AM - by Chris Pike
THE WAFL finals start early this Saturday at Steel Blue Oval and Swan Districts coach Greg Harding has put it on his team to score 100 points if they want to beat Claremont and keep their 2015 hopes alive. The only way Swan Districts can now play finals in 2015 is by beating Claremont at Steel Blue Oval this Saturday and then hoping the Tigers go on to lose to the second place West Perth in the last round at HBF Arena. With Claremont having a superior percentage, the only way Swans could still make finals if the Tigers beat West Perth is if the black-and-whites hammer Claremont to gain a greater percentage. South Fremantle dual premiership player Craig White announces retirement

Wednesday, August 19, 2015 - 12:42 PM - by Chris Pike
CRAIG White has announced his retirement after two premierships and earning life membership at South Fremantle, but he's not quite done yet with his sights on bowing out with wins against West Perth and Peel Thunder in what loom as the 191st and 192nd games of his glittering career. White committed to the Bulldogs in 2003 having moved to Perth from Williams and completing his schooling at Aquinas, and had a remarkable first three years playing in a colts premiership in 2003, reserves premiership in 2004 and then the league triumph in 2005. There was another premiership to come in 2009 and now White has announced that the 2015 season will be the last of his career that has included the two flags, him earning life membership, being a long-time part of the leadership group and vice-captain as well as captain on occasion, and one of the most consistent and versatile players in the competition.
