The 2015 Landmark Country Football Championships kicked off in Perth on Thursday, July 9, with games being played across four Divisions at various West Australian Football League venues. Round 15 McDonald's WAFL Results

THE tightness of the WAFL competition was again on show on Saturday with Swan Districts beating East Perth in a thriller by four points to move from outside the top five into third position, while Subiaco beat Peel to return a three-game advantage on top of the ladder. There were just the two WAFL matches in Round 15 on Saturday afternoon and that saw Swan Districts win a four-point nail-biter of East Perth 9.10 (64) to 8.12 (60) at Steel Blue Oval. And at Medibank Stadium, Subiaco proved too good for Peel Thunder winning 15.9 (99) to 6.8 (44) with the Lions returning to a three-game lead on top of the ladder while the Thunder weren’t able to continue their winning form. McDonald's WAFL Round 15 Preview

THERE are just the two WAFL matches as part of Round 15 of the 2015 season but both will have a significant impact on the top five as one clash pits two teams against one another trying to break into a finals place, and the other featuring first against third on the ladder. Swan Districts will take on East Perth at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval at 2.15pm with both teams needing a win to return to the top five as the race for finals positions heats up. Then at 2.40pm, the league-leading Subiaco hosts the third-placed Peel Thunder at Leederville's Medibank Stadium in what looms as a fascinating contest. Read More ...


WAFL State 16s set for National Championships

The WAFL State 16s commence their 2015 NAB AFL National 16s Championship campaign tomorrow at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast. The squad will play three games over the next week against Victoria Country, South Australia and Victoria Metro. State 16s 2015 squad list The Academy has a strong commitment to developing individual players holistically, which includes conducting leadership, nutrition and education sessions to enhance overall development. WA State 18s have solid finish in loss to Vic Country

WESTERN Australia put in a competitive showing to finish the 2015 NAB AFL National 18s Championships but ended up falling 32 points short of the unbeaten Victoria Country. Vic Country won its sixth match of the National 18s Championships as they claimed the Division 1 title for 2015 but WA put in a much more competitive showing than the 105-point loss in Perth against them last time. Vic Country still ended up winning 8.15 (63) to 4.7 (31) at Geelong's Simonds Stadium but WA did well outscoring them three goals to one in the second half to close a 42-point half-time deficit to 32 by the final siren. Round 14 McDonald's WAFL Wrap Up

WEST Perth capped off a big day at HBF Arena on Saturday beating the league-leading Subiaco while Peel Thunder, South Fremantle and Claremont all recorded victories as well to improve their positions on the ladder. West Perth ended Subiaco's eight-match winning streak in front of 7789 people at HBF Arena on Saturday with an 8.7 (55) to 5.15 (45) victory as the Falcons hosted the International Football Festival. Peel Thunder also improved to third position beating Perth 17.16 (118) to 8.8 (56) at Bendigo Bank Stadium and South Fremantle moved to fourth winning a 12.10 (82) to 12.8 (80) over Swan Districts at Fremantle Oval. Claremont then had a convincing 14.9 (93) to 3.7 (25) win over East Fremantle at ATOM Stadium to return to the top five after Round 14. Read More ...

WEST Perth scored a hard fought win over the league-leading Subiaco in front of more than 7000 people to close the gap between first and second on the WAFL ladder on Saturday while Peel Thunder, South Fremantle and Claremont consolidated positions in the top five with wins. West Perth closed the gap to two games between it and Subiaco on the WAFL ladder after Round 14 with a 8.7 (55) to 5.15 (45) win at HBF Arena in front of 7389 people as the Falcons celebrated its International Football Festival. Peel Thunder moved up into third position on the ladder with an emphatic 17.16 (118) win over Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium while South Fremantle moved to fourth beating Swan Districts in a thriller 12.10 (82) to 12.8 (80) at Fremantle Oval. Claremont held East Fremantle goalless until the 31-minute of the third quarter at ATOM Stadium to end up winning 14.9 (93) to 3.7 (25) and move into fifth position. Read More ...

ROUND 14 of the WAFL is one with plenty at stake as West Perth looks to challenge the league-leading Subiaco while South Fremantle, Swan Districts, Claremont, Peel Thunder and East Fremantle continue to fight over positions in the top five. All four Round 14 matches take place on Saturday afternoon starting at Fremantle Oval at 1.40pm with South Fremantle taking on Swan Districts with both teams entering the clash on 6-6 records. Then at 2.15pm, West Perth takes on Subiaco at HBF Arena in a battle of the WAFL's top two teams while East Fremantle plays Claremont at ATOM Stadium and Peel Thunder hosts Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium. State 18s rebound with a win

The WAFL State 18s claimed a courageous win over Victoria Metro in the NAB AFL National 18s Championships at Simonds Stadium in Geelong today, Friday, June 26. After a 74-point loss to Vic Metro a fortnight ago, WA created a 92-point turnaround to win by 18 points 11.6 (72) to 7.12 (54). WA was led to victory by three goals from Luke Strnadica and two last quarter goals from Callum Ah Chee, who also had 13 possessions, six marks and four inside 50s. Read More ...

The owners of a pint-sized tyro who can already kick, mark and handball will burst with pride as other parents notice the prodigy they have been developing. Conversely the embarrassment is obvious on the faces of the owners of a child who battles with the skills and is clearly not as advanced as the other children. A parent in the latter group will ask themselves whether they have been teaching their child the wrong way or, worse still, not teaching them at all. Will their child be laughed at by the other children? Are the parents to blame? It is only natural for parents to be worried about how this reflects on them or that their child will be left behind. WAFC supports grassroots facilities

The West Australian Football Commission continues to support the provision of facilities for grassroots football clubs.    Recent funding announcements have included a clubroom redevelopment for Collegians Amateur Football Club and lighting project for City Beach Oval. The Collegians project is a long overdue $2.7m project and with the support of the WAFC the Club was successful in gaining  AFL funding of $50,000 from the national Facility Development Reserve. The majority of the funding is from the City of Nedlands ($2.1m), with the Department for Sport and Recreation contributing $500,000 and the Collegians Amateur Football Club adding a further $125,000.
