2016 Nicky Winmar Carnival

Mt Barker embraces AFL Challenge

ALMOST 5000 people attended the AFL NAB Challenge game between Fremantle and Adelaide in a highly successful event for the Mt Barker community at Sounness Park on Sunday, February 28. The Dockers held off the Crows 1.9.6 (69) to 0.8.19 (67) to win in front of the big crowd that gathered to watch the first AFL game to be played in the Great Southern since Albany hosted West Coast and Collingwood in 2008. Round 1 WAFL fixtures confirmed

The Round 1 West Australian Football League (WAFL) fixture between South Fremantle and West Perth will be played at 2.10pm on Saturday, March 19. The game will be televised live on 7Mate from 2pm. WAFL General Manager Steve Hargrave said the WAFL had been exploring options to play the game as a televised fixture under lights at 7.10pm. “Promoting the WAFL competition is extremely important and playing a televised Round 1 night game presented a terrific opportunity to do this,” he said. Collegians facility officially opened

New clubrooms were officially opened for Collegians Amateur Football Club at David Cruikshank Reserve on Friday, February 19 with the support of the West Australian Football Commission, AFL, City of Nedlands and Department of Sport and Recreation. The event was hosted by the City of Nedlands and the official opening conducted by Premier Colin Barnett and City of Nedlands Mayor Max Hipkins. The WAFC contributed $5000 towards a funding application for the project, and played a major role in assisting the club receive a $50,000 grant from the AFL. Read More ...


State U18 Youth Girls squad announced

WAFC records strong results for future of football

A highly successful 2015 has resulted in the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) recording a cash profit of $2.12 million and achieving its budget strategy of building working capital to secure the future of Football in WA during a period of substantial change for the sport. The strong cash result was outlined at tonight’s Annual General Meeting (Thursday, February 25), along with the annual investment of more than $23 million into developing WA football. The WAFC’s strong result was achieved from a combination of the on-field success of the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Football Club, along with revenue growth generated by Perth Stadium Management from four sell-out AFL finals, major concerts and two Monster Jam events at Domain Stadium.
