FREE Female Football Coach Forum

Coaches aspiring to be involved in female football are encouraged to attend a free Female Football Coach Forum being hosted by the West Australian Football Commission and supported by the AFL, Fremantle Football Club and the West Coast Eagles. Running from 6-9pm in the Polly Famer at Domain Stadium on Monday, May 29, the forum will feature presentations by Michelle Cowan – Fremantle Dockers AFLW head coach and Glenn Stewart - High Performance Manager at the West Coast Eagles. WAFL 'Know Your Score' Men's Health Round

The West Australian Football Commission has joined forces with Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia to host the West Australia Football League’s (WAFL) Know Your Score Men’s Health Round this weekend.   For the fourth year, the Know Your Score Men’s Health Round initiative will see players from across the state don blue armbands to honour the men in WA who have lost their lives to prostate cancer.   All four WAFL games held this Saturday will aim to raise awareness of prostate cancer and encourage men to be more proactive about their health by talking to their doctor. Round 9 – Subiaco v South Fremantle Match Report

SUBIACO has won a seventh straight match, earned revenge for Round 1, celebrated captain Kyal Horsley's 150th game and gone clear on top of the WAFL ladder after beating South Fremantle by 39 points at Leederville Oval on Saturday. The game loomed as the clash of the WAFL season to date with both teams entering on 6-1 records with South Fremantle sitting top with the superior percentage and on a five-game winning run with Subiaco having won its last six. The Bulldogs did beat the Lions by 39 points back in Round 1 at Fremantle Community Bank Oval, but the Lions got a measure of revenge on Saturday winning by the exact same margin. Read More ...


Round 9 – Claremont v Perth Match Report

CLAREMONT and Perth entered Saturday's clash at Fremantle Community Bank Oval desperate to stop losing slides and it turned out to be a remarkable finish that saw the Demons claim the eight-point victory. The game was played on neutral turf at the port once again with Claremont Oval still unavailable to host Claremont home games with the redevelop now nearing completion, and it turned out to be a terrific contest between two desperate teams. EAST Perth continued to build some momentum following a horror start to 2017 hammering the winless East Fremantle by 87 points at East Fremantle Oval on Saturday. Having started the season with five straight losses under new coach Luke Webster, the Royals continued their improvement on Saturday dominating the struggling Sharks to record their third straight win. East Perth kicked four goals to one in the first quarter, six to one in the second and then another seven to one in the last on the way to the 20.22 (142) to 7.13 (55) victory. Read More ...


Round 9 – Peel Thunder v Swan Districts Match Report

PEEL Thunder's rollercoaster ride so far in 2017 as reigning premiers continued Saturday with the upward trend continuing with a strong 21-point victory over Swan Districts at Bendigo Bank Stadium. Peel made it consecutive victories to consolidate a spot inside the top-five after kicking the only four goals of the third quarter on home turf to set up the eventual 12.12 (84) to 9.9 (63) victory over Swan Districts. Having started their premiership defence with two straight wins, the Thunder went on a four-game losing slide before bouncing back last week with a win over Claremont and now making it up against Swans to improve to a 4-4 record. WAFL Round 9 match reports

SUBIACO has surged clear on top of the WAFL ladder celebrating captain Kyal Horsley's 150th game with a big win over South Fremantle on Saturday while Peel Thunder, Perth and East Perth were also victorious. All eyes were on Leederville Oval for the top-of-the-table WAFL clash on Saturday and it is Subiaco who ends Round 9 of the 2017 season a game clear in top spot. The Lions have played in the last three grand finals for two premierships and on Saturday made a statement beating South Fremantle 19.13 (127) to 14.4 (88) to replace them on top of the ladder having now won seven straight matches. Horsley learned from the best, now the benchmark at Subiaco

KYAL Horsley had some all-time greats to look up to when he joined Subiaco in 2007 and the biggest thing he learned from them was how important it was to set the example for the younger players no matter how you are feeling yourself. Horsley joined Subiaco from Kalgoorlie in 2007 and he was immediately in awe of the all-time greats that he was suddenly training with. The problem was, when he realised that the warm up at training was actually just that, he thought he would never make at this level. Read More ...

ALL signs are pointing to the game of the season so far at Leederville Oval on Saturday with the prize for the winner out of Subiaco and South Fremantle to be sitting a game clear on top of the WAFL ladder. Subiaco and South Fremantle both enter the clash at Leederville Oval in outstanding form with the Lions having won six straight matches, and the Bulldogs five in succession. That sees both teams currently hold a 6-1 record with South Fremantle only currently sitting ahead of Subiaco in top spot courtesy of a percentage greater to the tune of 28 per cent. Read More ...

CLAREMONT is on a four-game losing run and Perth has lost its last three meaning both enter Saturday's clash at Fremantle Community Bank Oval desperate to return to the winner's list. Claremont started the season on fire with three wins but the Tigers have lost four straight games since to slip outside of the top-five to now need a victory on Saturday against the Demons. Perth, meanwhile, has managed just the one so far this season and if the Demons have any hope of remaining an outside hope of playing finals in 2017, this is a game they can't afford to lose. EAST Fremantle is back at East Fremantle Oval on Saturday in search of its first win of 2017 but ahead of them is a fresh East Perth team coming off two victories prior to last week's bye. The Sharks enter the clash having lost their opening six games of the season while the Royals did lose their first five matches too, but have since won two before the bye to get things back on track. East Fremantle's opening two games were especially disappointing with big losses to Claremont and Peel Thunder, but the four defeats since to Perth, Swan Districts, South Fremantle and West Perth have been vastly more competitive despite still being losses.  Read More ...

THE game of the WAFL season to date is shaping up to take place at Leederville Oval on Saturday with top spot on the line as Subiaco hosts South Fremantle with three other big Round 9 matches taking place as well. All four Round 9 WAFL matches will again take place on Saturday afternoon. The action begins at 1.40pm at Bendigo Bank Stadium in Mandurah with reigning premiers Peel Thunder hosting Swan Districts.
