Friday, September 1, 2017 - 4:54 PM
An enhanced talent model will be launched for the 2018 football season as WA football sets its sights on being the nation’s best State for talent development. The revised talent model, which has been developed by the West Australian Football Commission in partnership with the AFL and nine WAFL clubs, represents one of the key reforms from the WAFC’s Structural Review of Football, which was launched in March 2017. The model will see player development aligned with the AFL’s National Framework and Talent Development Philosophy, to give WA’s most talented players the best possible chance to play at the elite AFL level or in the nation’s best State League competition, the WAFL. This impact extends beyond the playing field to include families, friends and the community as a whole,” he said. “Football has the capacity to educate, improve health, develop leadership and provide a stepping stone to employment. Monday, August 28, 2017 - 3:24 PM - by Chris Pike
SUBIACO has soared towards the 2017 WAFL Finals with a 19th straight victory for the season beating East Perth and ending the hopes of the Royals with a 42-point victory at Leederville Oval on Saturday.   East Perth needed to find a way to be the first team to beat Subiaco since South Fremantle did so back in Round 1 in order to make up for last week's upset loss to Perth and still play finals in 2017.   The Royals weren’t able to match it with the Lions in the second half after only trailing by eight points at half-time. They still had a finals hope, though, if Claremont beat West Perth at Claremont Oval but not by enough to overtake the Royals on percentage. Read More ...
