SWAN Districts has continued its tremendous late season form to storm into the WAFL Women's Grand Final against East Fremantle with an emphatic 45-point preliminary final win against Subiaco on Saturday. Subiaco had been the standout team for much of the first ever Optus WAFLW Premiership season and did finish as minor premiers, but they lost the second semi-final to East Fremantle leaving them in a must-win situation on Saturday to keep their 2019 campaign alive. RYAN Lim has set himself for a bounce back game in Sunday's first semi-final against the West Coast Eagles and he remains confident of how far Claremont can still go in 2019 provided they play attacking football. LEIGH Kitchin's first five WAFL seasons with Subiaco could have hardly gone better but now he enters his first finals campaign as captain at the Lions and for the prolific midfielder, it's all about keeping to plan but ensure the hunger doesn’t dissipate.  Kitchin arrived at Subiaco in 2015 from VFL club Frankston as a virtual like for like replacement for the previous year's Grand Final Simpson Medal winner Jason Bristow who moved into retirement – and has since returned as assistant coach. Not only did Kitchin come in and slot into that midfield role seamlessly from the start of the 2015 season, but he has become an outstanding servant of the Lions over the course of what is now a 104-game WAFL career. HAVING already tasted colts and reserves premiership success at South Fremantle, Jason Maskos desperately wants to breakthrough at league level with the Bulldogs as he prepares for his 100th game. Following on from the footsteps of his father Arthur who played 90 games for South Fremantle between 1985 and 1992, and then would go on to coach his son in colts and be a league assistant, Jason always seemed destined to play with the Bulldogs. WHEN putting together a WAFL team, the West Coast Eagles wanted the experience and leadership of Brady Grey and he continues to pay that off in spades while knowing helping lead team success could help him back into the AFL. It was somewhat a surprise when Grey found himself delisted by the Fremantle Dockers at the end of 2018 having played 21 AFL matches in the previous four years. THE Finals in the Simply Energy Colts got underway on the weekend with Claremont advancing to within one more win of a Grand Final appearance while East Perth ended the season of Swan Districts. The colts finals series got underway on Saturday morning and it was the minor premier Peel Thunder who got to sit back and let the other four finals teams do battle as they awaited to find out their opponent in the second semi-final next Sunday morning. It was the elimination final that got things underway at Fremantle Community Bank Oval and East Perth proved too strong for a Swan Districts team that made the Grand Final in 2018.
