The opening round of the 2021 Simply Energy WAFL Colts season started with a bang, as there were great individual and team performances alike.

The opening round saw East Fremantle (13.13.91) defeating Peel Thunder (13.3.81), East Perth (20.13.133) overpowering Subiaco (6.4.40), South Fremantle (15.11.101) accounting for West Perth (13.9.87) and Swan Districts (10.9.69) overcoming Claremont (9.10.64)

PEEL THUNDER (13.3.81) vs EAST FREMANTLE (13.13.91)
East Fremantle opened its 2021 Simply Energy WAFL Colts campaign with a thrilling 10-point victory over Peel Thunder at David Grays Arena.

AFL Academy member Jack Williams starred for the Sharks with 19 possessions, 15 hit-outs, 6 marks, 3 inside 50s, 2 tackles and 4 goals.

Joshua Browne (27 possessions, 5 tackles, 5 inside 50s, 2 goals), Corey Warner (22 possessions, 5 inside 50s, 3 tackles), Samuel Emery (21 possessions, 1 goal) and Taj Woewodin (21 possessions, 7 inside 50s, 5 tackles, 1 goal) were prolific for the Sharks.

Luke Yeo (2 goals), Judd McVee (1 goal), Samuel Otto (1 goal), and Jack Norrish (1 goal) were the other goalkickers for East Fremantle.

For the Thunder, WA U19s Talented Player Program member Luke Polson was highly influential with 18 possessions, 9 hit-outs, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 3 inside 50s and 5 goals.

Brady Hough (21 possessions, 7 marks, 3 tackles, 2 goals), Kallian Levitt (18 possessions, 5 marks), and Tristan Bryce (18 possessions, 6 marks) won plenty of the football.

Bryce Fiorentino (2 goals), Jackson McLellan (1 goal), Connor Carbone (1 goal), Bodie Kitchingham (1 goal) and Zac Trigwell (1 goal) each hit the scoreboard for the Thunder.

SUBIACO (6.4.40) vs EAST PERTH (20.13.133)
East Perth made the biggest statement in the opening round, after thumping the reigning premiers Subiaco to the tune of 93 points.

WA U19s Talented Player Program members Jye Amiss (11 possessions, 6 marks, 5 goals) and Kade Dittmar (19 possessions, 5 inside 50s, 3 marks, 3 goals) were dominant for the Royals.

James Tunstill (21 possessions, 4 inside 50s), Jake Littleton (21 possessions, 6 marks, 4 inside 50s), Jayden Peak (20 possessions, 7 inside 50s, 5 marks) and Ethan Regan (19 possessions, 5 marks, 2 goals) were prominent for the Royals.

Aniello Pizzolante, Patrick Weldon, Kaden Harbour, and Jordyn Baker each kicked two goals, while Riley May and Thanakhan Chaichana each kicked one goal.

For the Lions, Neil Erasmus (28 possessions, 9 marks, 1 goal) and Jed Kemp (20 possessions, 6 marks, 1 goal) competed hard.

SOUTH FREMANTLE (15.11.101) vs WEST PERTH (13.9.87)
South Fremantle opened its 2021 Simply Energy WAFL Colts season with a 14-point victory over West Perth at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

Julian Hulten was the star of the show for the Bulldogs with 15 possessions, 6 marks and 6 goals.

Caleb Stephens (22 possessions, 7 inside 50s), Aaron Drage (20 possessions, 3 tackles), Angus Fraser (17 possessions, 5 inside 50s, 2 goals) and Jesse Motlop (17 possessions, 6 tackles, 2 goals) were prominent for the Bulldogs.

Lochlan Bloomer (11 possessions, 3 goals), Liam Brandis (11 possessions, 1 goal) and Jacob Plunkett (1 goal) were the goalkickers for the Dogs.

For the Falcons, Jack De Marte competed admirably with 23 possessions, 5 tackles, 4 marks, 4 inside 50s and a goal.

Luke Reilly (18 possessions, 6 tackles, 6 inside 50s, 5 marks, 1 goal), Zachary Fleiner (15 possessions, 1 goal) and Lochlan Paton (15 possessions) were the major ball-winners for West Perth.

Zarne Robis kicked four goals for the Falcons, while Saverio Marafioti, Cooper Blackburn, Riley Sprigg, Harrison Baxter, Isaac De Marte and Kane Bevan each kicked one goal.

SWAN DISTRICTS (10.9.69) vs CLAREMONT (9.10.64)
In an enthralling contest at Steel Blue Oval, it was Swan Districts who prevailed by five points over Grand Finalists Claremont.

Tyrell Metcalf was exceptional for Swan Districts with 19 possessions, 4 marks, 3 inside 50s and 4 goals.

Max Chipper (24 possessions, 6 marks, 4 inside 50s), Benjamin Hewett (24 possessions, 10 marks, 8 inside 50s, 5 tackles), Noah Hannan (22 possessions, 4 inside 50s) and Lawson Humphries (21 possessions, 8 marks) won a heap of the footy for the Swans.

Rhett Bazzo was the other multiple goalkicker with two goals, while Joshua Middleton, James Sullivan, Brayden Jones and Lyle Sibosado each kicked a goal.

For Claremont, Angus Sheldrick (23 possessions, 4 inside 50s, 3 tackles, 1 goal) and Talon Delacey (19 possessions, 6 tackles, 3 inside 50s, 1 goal) were inspirational.

Fletcher Netherway (16 possessions), Arthur Jones (15 possessions) and Hugh Davies (15 possessions) were prominent for the Tigers.

Luke Brown (3 goals), Jahmal Stretch (2 goals), and Peter Coles (12 possessions, 7 tackles, 2 goals) were the multiple goalkickers for the Tigers.
