THE WAFLW competition resumes this weekend following a break over Easter and what better way to get back rolling than with two rematches from the league's opening two Grand Final match ups.

The 2021 Optus WAFLW Premiership Season had its opening six rounds take place prior to Easter and now after a week off for everyone to regroup and recharge, the six teams are back in action this weekend with three tantalising match ups.

It all gets underway on Saturday morning with Claremont taking on South Fremantle at Claremont's Revo Fitness Stadium from 9.30am.

The second match up of Round 7 then takes place on Saturday evening from 6pm at David Grays Arena in Mandurah with Peel Thunder playing Subiaco.

And then finally on Sunday afternoon from 2pm, it's East Fremantle hosting Swan Districts at New Choice Homes Park.

OPTUS WAFLW PREMIERSHIP SEASON PREVIEW

The opening game of Round 7 in the WAFLW competition on Saturday morning pits Claremont up against South Fremantle. 

The Tigers need to keep winning to firstly maintain their hold on that third position on the ladder while also maintaining touch for a top two position while the Bulldogs are still hunting that elusive first ever WAFLW victory.

Next up on Saturday evening in Mandurah is Peel hosting Subiaco in what is a rematch from last year's Grand Final that was won by the Thunder.

This game has plenty riding on it as well. Peel can maintain second position with a win while a loss would see the Thunder drop right back to the pack. 

But the Lions can put themselves right back into the finals hunt with a win while a loss is going to leave it a big ask for them to reach a third successive WAFLW finals campaign.

Then last up on Sunday afternoon is a tantalising match up between East Fremantle and Swan Districts in a rematch of the 2019 Grand Final that was won by the Sharks.

East Fremantle is currently clinging to fourth position and need to keep winning to stay in the top four while Swan Districts is the team to beat so far having gone through the opening six rounds undefeated to be sitting clear on top of the table.

Meanwhile, the WAFLW Reserves competition also resumes this weekend with all three games taking place on Sunday. 

They see South Fremantle hosting Swan Districts at Fremantle Community Bank Oval, Subiaco taking on Claremont at Leederville Oval, and East Fremantle hosting West Perth at New Choice Homes Park.

Then in the Youth Girls Rogers Cup competition, that gets underway with Round 7 on Saturday afternoon with Peel Thunder taking on East Perth at Mandurah's David Grays Arena.

Then on Sunday morning, South Fremantle plays Swan Districts, Subiaco battles Claremont, and East Fremantle plays host to West Perth.
