WAFL Match Review - Round 1 Monday, April 5, 2021 - 3:29 PM

The WAFL Match Review Panel has assessed the following incidents from Round 1 of the Optus WAFL League competition;

 

1. Alex Witherden (West Coast) was reported for striking Corey Byrne (Perth) during the Round 1 fixture between Perth and West Coast at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday, April 3.

In summary, the above mentioned can accept a reprimand with an early guilty plea.

Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as careless conduct, low impact and body contact. Under the table of penalties the offence was classified as a one (1) match sanction. An early guilty plea enables the player to reduce the penalty to a reprimand.

2. Nicholas Robertson (East Perth) was cited for striking Lachlan Delahunty (Subiaco) during the Round 1 fixture between Subiaco and East Perth at Leederville Oval on Friday, April 2.

In summary, the above mentioned can accept a one (1) match sanction with an early guilty plea.
 
Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact. Under the table of penalties the offence was classified as a two (2) match sanction. An early guilty plea enables the player to reduce the penalty to a one (1) match sanction.

3. Kyle Stainsby (Subiaco) was cited for rough conduct on Thomas Edwards-Baldwin (East Perth) during the Round 1 fixture between Subiaco and East Perth at Leederville Oval on Friday, April 2.

In summary, the above mentioned can accept a two (2) match sanction with an early guilty plea.

Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as careless conduct, high impact and high contact. Under the table of penalties the offence was classified as a three (3) match sanction. An early guilty plea enables the player to reduce the penalty to a two (2) match sanction.
 
4. Brock Higgins (South Fremantle) was cited for rough conduct on Conal Lynch (West Perth) during the Round 1 fixture between South Fremantle and West Perth at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday, April 3.

In summary, the above mentioned can accept a reprimand with an early guilty plea.

5. Christian Ameduri (East Perth) was reported for rough conduct on Kyle Stainsby (Subiaco) during the Round 1 fixture between East Perth and Subiaco at Leederville Oval on Friday, April 2.

In summary, the above mentioned can accept a reprimand with an early guilty plea.

6. Michael Braut (Subiaco) was cited for attempting to strike Matthew Young (East Perth) during the Round 1 fixture between Subiaco and East Perth at Leederville Oval on Friday, April 2.

In summary, based on the available evidence the incident was deemed as a a low level offence.  
 
7. Dakota Baldwin- Wright (Perth) was cited for contact with an umpire during the Round 1 fixture between Perth and West Coast at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday, April 3.

In summary, based on the available evidence the incident was deemed as a a low level offence.  

8. Melee (Subiaco v East Perth)
The following players have been charged with engaging in a melee during the Round 1 fixture at Leederville Oval on Friday, April 2

Subiaco – Kyle Stainsby, Lewis Upton, Michael Braut, Liam Hickmott, Isaac Clinch, Ben Sokol, Nick Menegola.
East Perth – Rohan Kerr, Kye Willcocks, Nicholas Robertson, Jaxon Cahill. Matthew Young, Christian Ameduri, Mitchell Dobson, Jayden Magro, Jackson Ramsay.

In summary, based on the available video evidence the Match Review Panel concluded that each player had committed a low level offence.
