Thursday, August 30, 2018 - 2:21 PM - by Chris Pike
FIVE weeks ago South Fremantle's season was looking shaky, but they have now won four straight games impressively entering a third straight WAFL finals campaign with virtually a squad to pick from aside from triple Bernie Naylor Medallist Ben Saunders. South Fremantle has finished second in each of the past two WAFL seasons before ending up falling in the preliminary finals of both seasons, to Peel Thunder in 2016 and Subiaco in 2017. But the majority of the playing group recommitted to giving it another crack as a unit in 2018 having played so much football together and now they have again given themselves a chance at success, but it hasn’t been without some hiccups throughout the season. West Perth pair Keitel, Strijk share Bernie Naylor Medal

Wednesday, August 29, 2018 - 9:56 AM - by Chris Pike
TWO years ago Tyler Keitel and Andrew Strijk were part of a solid West Perth defensive unit but in 2018 they have been the most potent forward duo in the WAFL and as a result are sharing the Bernie Naylor Medal as the league's leading goalkicker. In a competition where increasingly teams share their goals around and don't have one main forward target, the number of goals kicked for a season by individuals might be down but in the case of West Perth, the combination of Keitel and Strijk has worked a treat in 2018. Keitel and Strijk both finished the 2018 season having kicked 43 goals apiece and even with the Falcons having the bye in the final round, that saw them lead the WAFL this season and for them to share the Bernie Naylor Medal. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 - 8:56 AM - by Chris Pike
FOR a lot of the 2018 season the one last piece remaining in the puzzle for Claremont to solve was in attack and the form Alex Manuel has been a big part in that and he has been named M & J Chickens Player of Round 21 as a result. Claremont has qualified for the finals in 2018 and will take on East Perth in an elimination final this Sunday at Claremont Oval having ended the season in fourth position with a 9-9 record. Claremont has managed to do that based on winning the last three games of the home and away season against Perth, Peel Thunder and Swan Districts, and a significant reason for that has been a forward-line led by Manuel. Round 21 Colts Wrap

Tuesday, August 28, 2018 - 2:22 PM - by Chris Pike
THE teams taking part in finals in the WAFL Colts for 2018 might have been determined heading into Round 21 but the positions inside the top five certainly weren’t setting the stage for some fascinating results.
