TABtouch Team of Round 21

IT was the last round of the 2018 WAFL season on Saturday and not only were spots in the finals on the line between East Perth, Peel Thunder and Perth, but it was the last chance for players to book their place in the TABtouch Team of the Year as well. The stage was set for a fascinating finish to the WAFL season with East Perth, Perth and Peel Thunder all locked in a battle for the fifth position and to determine which team would take part in finals action in 2018. As it turned out, East Perth thumped Peel Thunder 16.18 (114) to 4.6 (30) at Bendigo Bank Stadium to ensure a finals position and ending the season of the premiers of the past two seasons. Round 21 Colts Wrap

THE teams taking part in finals in the WAFL Colts for 2018 might have been determined heading into Round 21 but the positions inside the top five certainly weren’t setting the stage for some fascinating results. Coming into the last round of the home and away season, it was already confirmed that Subiaco, Peel Thunder, Swan Districts, East Fremantle and South Fremantle would be the teams taking part in the finals series for 2018. While Claremont, West Perth, East Perth and Perth were out of finals contention, it had been a strongly competitive colts season with even the bottom three teams all recording three victories and being largely competitive throughout 2018. IT took until the very last kick of the 2018 WAFL season for Claremont to snatch fourth position and a home elimination final against East Perth with big last round victories also for Subiaco, South Fremantle and the Royals. Coming into the final round of the 2018 WAFL season, East Perth, Perth and Peel Thunder were still all a chance to finish in fifth position and to play finals football. TABtouch Finals Series

The 2018 TABtouch WAFL Finals Series will commence on Saturday, September 1 with the Qualifying Final between South Fremantle (2nd) and West Perth (3rd) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval from 2.40pm. IT is the final round of the 2018 WAFL season and there remains three teams all capable of snatching fifth position with only one of East Perth, Perth and Peel Thunder to have their seasons continue beyond Saturday evening. It is set to be quite the exciting conclusion to the home and away season in the WAFL for 2018 and all eyes will be on Bendigo Bank Stadium with the reigning premiers of the last two years, Peel Thunder, hosting East Perth. WAFL Colts Super Round

WAFL Grand Final confirmed for Optus Stadium

The 2018 McDonald’s WAFL Grand Final will be played at Optus Stadium at 2.40pm on Sunday, September 23 featuring the first ever public kick-to-kick on the ground for fans. WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor encouraged everyone, regardless of which team they support, to attend and experience a great day out for the whole family. “The WAFL Grand Final is one of the biggest events on the WA football calendar and we have a great range of family activities and attractions planned to make it a celebration of WA football,” he said. M & J Chickens Player of Round 20

HE might have not have played against a genuine ruckman but Zac Clarke took full toll in quite the dominant all-round display for Subiaco against East Fremantle on Saturday to earn M & J Chickens Player of the Round honours. With captain Jonathon Griffin unavailable through injury to lock horns with his former Fremantle teammate, East Fremantle decided against playing a genuine ruckman against Subiaco and Clarke took full advantage in about as dominant a ruck display as you are likely to see. There were plenty of other standout performers across the Round 20 action including big games from Claremont's Sandover Medal winning pair Kane Mitchell and Jye Bolton in the Tigers' win over Peel Thunder. THE penultimate round in the 2018 WAFL season saw plenty of standout performances including a dominant showing from a ruckman and a seven-goal haul while Claremont locked away a finals spot leaving East Perth, Perth and Peel Thunder to fight over the remaining position. While the top three and bottom two positions were locked away heading into Round 20 of the season, the last two finals positions remained on the line with the battle between East Perth, Claremont, Perth and Peel Thunder over the final two weeks. THE top five positions in the WAFL colts for 2018 are locked away with one round remaining following wins in Round 20 on Saturday by Subiaco, Claremont, South Fremantle and East Perth. Despite winning on Saturday, Claremont can't make the finals with one game of the season remaining and neither can West Perth, Perth or East Perth. Subiaco is guaranteed of the minor premiership with Peel Thunder, East Fremantle, Swan Districts and South Fremantle the other teams who will take part in finals action. Read More ...
