The West Australian Football Commission has appointed highly experienced sports administrator Linda Hamersley as its Executive Manager Governance, Strategy & Workforce Planning.

Ms Hamersley has extensive experience as a senior leader within the sporting sector, most recently as CEO at West Perth Football Club.

She has previously worked for a number of national and state sporting organisations including Hockey WA, Confederation of Australian Motor Sport, and Australian Rugby Union, in addition to working in senior leadership positions for international organisations such as the New Zealand Olympic Committee and Athletics New Zealand.

Ms Hamersley said she was looking forward to continuing her career in sports administration and contributing to the future direction of WA Football.

“I’ve enjoyed working in the WAFL environment and am excited to remain within the football industry,” she said.

“The role with the Commission provides me with the opportunity to contribute to the wider football community and bring my experience from working within different sporting industries to the table.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Executive team to see the WAFC’s strategic objectives being met.”

WAFC CEO Gavin Taylor said Ms Hamersley’s appointment formed part of the WAFC’s new Executive structure that was announced at the beginning of the year to align with the organisation’s key priorities and long-term sustainability of WA football.

“Linda is an exciting addition to our Executive team as a highly respected leader within the sporting industry,” Mr Taylor said.

“Her role will be critical in aligning our business to strategic goals by leading the governance, strategy and workforce planning portfolios and developing partnerships to enable the WAFC to achieve its vision of connecting and enhancing communities through our great game.”

Ms Hamersley will commence at the WAFC on September 16.
