Mitchell proud of century but wants more success

Friday, August 31, 2018 - 10:38 AM - by Chris Pike
HAVING his passion for the game rekindled with a year away in 2017, Kane Mitchell is excited to reach 100 games with Claremont on Sunday but he's even more looking forward to the chance play a home final at Claremont Oval and help bring more finals success to the Tigers. Mitchell was a key part of a remarkable period of success for Claremont before he joined AFL club Port Adelaide ahead of the 2013 season. He was a prolific ball winner and remarkably hard runner as part of a Tigers side that finished on top of the ladder three straight years and reached the Grand Finals of 2010, 2011 and 2012 before winning back-to-back premierships the last two of those years following the heartbreak of 2010. Thursday, August 30, 2018 - 2:21 PM - by Chris Pike

But the majority of the playing group recommitted to giving it another crack as a unit in 2018 having played so much football together and now they have again given themselves a chance at success, but it hasn’t been without some hiccups throughout the season. West Perth pair Keitel, Strijk share Bernie Naylor Medal

Wednesday, August 29, 2018 - 9:56 AM - by Chris Pike
TWO years ago Tyler Keitel and Andrew Strijk were part of a solid West Perth defensive unit but in 2018 they have been the most potent forward duo in the WAFL and as a result are sharing the Bernie Naylor Medal as the league's leading goalkicker. In a competition where increasingly teams share their goals around and don't have one main forward target, the number of goals kicked for a season by individuals might be down but in the case of West Perth, the combination of Keitel and Strijk has worked a treat in 2018. Keitel and Strijk both finished the 2018 season having kicked 43 goals apiece and even with the Falcons having the bye in the final round, that saw them lead the WAFL this season and for them to share the Bernie Naylor Medal.
