TABtouch Team of Round 15

THERE were just the three games in Round 15 of the WAFL on Saturday with Subiaco again showing its dominance against the second placed South Fremantle while Perth continues its charge to take part in a rare finals series and East Perth also returned to the top five. Claremont, East Fremantle and West Perth all had byes in Round 15 of the WAFL season leaving the other six clubs to take part in three matches across Saturday afternoon. The afternoon on Saturday did get underway at Leederville Oval with the top two teams doing battle between Subiaco and South Fremantle, with both having played each other during the finals of the past two years as well. Round 15 Colts Wrap

THERE were just the three matches in Round 15 on Saturday with East Perth closing in on a finals position, Subiaco returning to top of the table and Peel Thunder moving a game clear in second spot from those games. With Claremont, East Fremantle and West Perth having byes in Round 15 of the 2018 WAFL Colts season, it set the stage for three important matches on Saturday that saw some movement throughout the ladder as a result. The first match to get the round underway was on Saturday morning at Steel Blue Oval and it was a tight affair, with East Perth ending up beating Swan Districts 7.11 (53) to 7.6 (48) with the Royals now only percentage outside of fifth position. Round 15 Match Reports

SUBIACO asserted its dominance over the WAFL in 2018 once again on Saturday with a 10-goal win over the second placed South Fremantle while Perth and East Perth recorded wins to take them into fourth and fifth position respectively. There were three matches in Round 15 of the WAFL with each taking place on Saturday afternoon and in the end it saw Subiaco make it 13 straight to open the season while Perth beat Peel and East Perth thrashed Swan Districts to see both move into the top five. The day got underway with Subiaco ending up kicking the last eight goals of the game to beat South Fremantle 13.10 (88) to 3.10 (28) at Leederville Oval. Read More ...


Six WA players selected for AFLW 18s All-Australian team

Six WA Mundella AFL Women's State 18s players have been selected for the AFLW 18s All-Australian team following the conclusion of the NAB AFLW National State 18s Championships. Mikayla Bowen, Sabreena Duffy, Matilda Sergeant, Rikki Ryan, Kate Bartlett and McKenzie Dowrick were named All-Australians after their impressive performances over the Championship series. Ronald McDonald House Charity Round 15 Match Previews

THERE are just the three games in Round 15 of the WAFL but that includes the top two teams locking horns while Swan Districts and East Perth, and Perth and Peel Thunder fight over positions in the bottom part of the top five. Round 15 of the WAFL might only feature three matches with Claremont, East Fremantle and West Perth having the bye, but it could very well be season-defining for most of the six teams involved. State 16s outclass Victoria Country

WA’s State 16s have secured a dominant 54-point win over Victoria Country in their final 2018 NAB AFL National 16s Championship clash today, July 13, at the GABBA. WA made their mark in the opening term of the clash with six goals. This strong start set the precedent for the rest of the match with WA running out 13.13 (91)- 5.7 (37) winners. Nathan O'Driscoll was named WA's best with 23 disposals and five tackles. Taj Schofield, Jaxon Bellchambers, Connor Avery and Owen Dann were also among WA's best. David Yaccob from Peel Thunder, pictured, was named the WA MVP for the Championship series. WA umpires come together for inaugural conference

More than 80 umpires and umpire coaches involved at all levels of football across WA came together to participate in the inaugural WA State Umpiring Conference recently held at John McGrath Pavillion. The group heard from a number of special guests including AFL Head of Umpiring Grant Williams who discussed the new and exciting concepts the AFL is delivering to further improve the umpiring system in WA. “We all know the challenges that face umpiring in WA and through the support of the AFL we are meeting these challenges head on,” Williams said. Players to don silly socks for sick kids

All West Australian Football League players and umpires across all grades will wear silly socks to raise vital funds for children with serious illness, as part of Ronald McDonald House Charity Round 15 this weekend. Each League game will feature a special Ronald McDonald Charity Fan Zone where kids can get involved in a range of fun activities and win some great prizes. These activities include a spinning wheel, and a fries handball target. There will also be face painters and a lucky dip fans can take part in with a gold coin donation. M & J Chickens Player of Rio Tinto NAIDOC Round 14

Rio Tinto NAIDOC Week was celebrated in Round 14 of the WAFL across the weekend and it was only fitting that included some standout performances from Indigenous players with none better than Perth's M & J Chickens Player of the Round, Cody Ninyette. Across the four WAFL matches to celebrate NAIDOC Week in Round 14 of the WAFL, it was only fitting that a host of Indigenous players delivered standout performances. That started on Friday night and despite Peel Thunder losing to Subiaco by 52 points and not kicking a goal for three quarters, Danyle Pearce racked up 29 possessions while Michael Johnson had 20 disposals and nine marks, Traye Bennell 14 touches, Harley Bennell 13 and captain Gerald Ugle seven. TABtouch Team of Rio Tinto NAIDOC Round 14

NAIDOC Round in the WAFL saw the top three teams Subiaco, South Fremantle and West Perth move further clear at the head of the ladder while Perth closed in on a finals spot and Swan Districts, Claremont and Peel Thunder missed their chance to consolidate a position. NAIDOC Round in the WAFL began on Friday night with Subiaco dominating its Grand Final rematch with Peel Thunder, winning 9.15 (69) to 2.5 (17). The other three matches all took place on Saturday afternoon with Perth beating Swan Districts 14.17 (101) to 11.11 (77) on the back of five goals from Cody Ninyette and starring midfield performances from Clint Jones, Brant Colledge, Corey Yeo and Cody Leggett. ROUND 14 of the WAFL Colts season saw Subiaco return to the top of the ladder with a win against Peel Thunder while South Fremantle moved into the top five and consigned Claremont to the bottom position in the process. Things remain remarkably tight in the colts for 2018 with only one game separating the top four teams Subiaco, Peel Thunder, Swan Districts and East Fremantle.
