The WAFC Youth Girls Competition Preliminary Final was held last Sunday morning at HBF Arena in Joondalup and Claremont were pitted against the reigning premiers in South Fremantle. After their comfortable win against East Fremantle in the first semi-final, Claremont were up and about heading into the game. THE four Round 22 WAFL matches across Friday night and Saturday afternoon saw some starring individual performances but in the end it was East Fremantle who made the biggest statement by beating Swan Districts.
The round began on Friday night at Fremantle Oval with South Fremantle beating Subiaco 15.9 (99) to 12.13 (85).
Then on Saturday, East Fremantle thumped Swan Districts 18.14 (122) to 9.6 (60) at East Fremantle's ATOM Stadium while Claremont defeated West Perth 8.6 (54) to 6.12 (48) and East Perth thrashed Peel Thunder 14.21 (105) to 5.9 (39) at Mandurah's Bendigo Bank Stadium.
With just one round now of the 2014 season to go, the weekend's results leave East Perth (16-3) guaranteed of the minor premiership with Subiaco (13-6) certain to finish second.

AFL 9s players will have the chance to compete on the hallowed turf of Patersons Stadium when the West Australian Football Commission hosts an AFL 9s Tournament on November 29.
With three different Divisions, anyone over the age of 16 can get involved and be part of the action. Catering to a host of new markets, this innovative new tournament will be contested between teams of up of 12 players across divisions including Open, Mixed and 35+.

SOUTH Fremantle continued its strong finish to the 2014 WAFL season having now won four straight matches with three wins over top-four teams in that period after the Bulldogs beat Subiaco by 14 points at Fremantle Oval on Friday night.
South Fremantle might not be a chance of playing finals in 2014 having won just 10 of its opening 13 matches of the season, but the Bulldogs after finishing Paul Hasleby's time as coach with plenty of momentum to give the incoming Todd Curley plenty to work with.

SWAN Districts coach Greg Harding does not want the black-and-whites to just limp into the finals and make up the numbers in 2014 meaning that his team must bounce back and return to form this Saturday against East Fremantle.
Swan Districts is guaranteed of playing finals in 2014 largely thanks to an eight-game winning run between Rounds 3 and 10, but Swans have now lost three straight matches in disappointing fashion to South Fremantle, East Perth and West Perth.
Swans have lost six of their last 10 matches to only just be clinging to third position on the ladder no longer having any chance of making the top-two and desperately trying to avoid slipping to fourth and missing out on a home first semi-final. Read More ...

THE South Fremantle Football Club has announced the appointment of Todd Curley as its new senior coach for at least the next two WAFL seasons.
The South Fremantle Football Club and current senior coach Paul Hasleby both decided that he would not be seeking a renewal of his contract once the 2014 season expires and that opened the door for the Bulldogs to search for the best candidates to fill the chair for 2015 and beyond.
After an extensive nation-wide search and with the coaching selection panel headed up by South Fremantle great and West Coast Eagles premiership captain and coach John Worsfold, and dual South Fremantle premiership player and premiership captain David Gault, Curley was appointed to lead the Bulldogs back to glory and to finals for the first time since 2011. CLAREMONT continued its hot form to finish the 2014 WAFL season with a win over the second-placed Subiaco on Saturday with South Fremantle, West Perth and East Perth the other Round 21 winners.
Claremont recorded a 11.11 (77) to 9.15 (69) victory over Subiaco at Leederville's Medibank Stadium while South Fremantle beat Swan Districts 18.7 (115) to 9.15 (69) at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval, East Perth thumped Perth 28.14 (182) to 14.6 (90) at Lathlain Park and West Perth downed Peel Thunder 9.14 (68) to 8.11 (59) at Mandurah's Bendigo Bank Stadium.
