THERE were just the three games in Round 9 of the WAFL across a wet and windy weekend and there were no shortage of standout performances with Subiaco, East Fremantle and West Perth all recording emphatic victories. Coming off the WA Day long weekend, there were just the three matches across Saturday and Sunday afternoons in Round 9 of the WAFL with Claremont, Peel Thunder, South Fremantle and Swan Districts sitting out with the bye. There was just the one game on Saturday afternoon in the traditional timeslot and that saw Subiaco cement its spot at the top of the ladder with a 11.13 (79) to 1.4 (10) victory against a Perth team that recorded its lowest ever score against the Lions. IT was emphatic wins for Subiaco, West Perth and East Fremantle in a condensed yet wet and windy Round 9 of WAFL action spread over Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Coming off the WA Day Round, there was just the three games in Round 9 of the WAFL with Claremont, Peel Thunder, South Fremantle and Swan Districts sitting things out with the bye. WA 18s defeat Vic Metro in opening fixture

Western Australia have started their NAB AFL U18s Championships in fine style with a 17-point victory over Vic Metro on Saturday. Captain Deven Robertson led the way for the Sandgropers with 31 possessions, seven clearances, five marks, five rebounding 50s, four inside 50s and three tackles. COMING off the WA Day Round in the WAFL, Round 9 features just the three games across this weekend but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to look forward to including Saturday's hotly anticipated match up between Subiaco and Perth. Perth has been the story of the 2019 WAFL season to date with the Demons' having endured a horrid recent history that now looks like it's coming to an end. Round 8 Colts Wrap

SWAN Districts, Peel Thunder and West Perth all scored Round 8 WAFL colts victories across the WA Day long weekend to consolidate top three positions in the competition. Round 8 of the WAFL colts competition began on Friday evening at Mandurah's David Grays Arena with Peel Thunder proving too strong for reigning premiers Subiaco, winning 9.8 (62) to 5.7 (37). There was then one lone fixture on Saturday at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park and that saw Swan Districts continue its undefeated start to the 2019 season, beating Perth 15.15 (105) to 6.4 (40). IT was a fascinating Round 8 in the WAFL across the WA Day long weekend with wins for Perth, Claremont, Subiaco, South Fremantle and East Perth, and some standout individual performances along the way. Round 8 in the WAFL got underway with a standalone fixture on Saturday at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park that saw former skipper Clint Jones lead Perth to the come from behind victory over Swan Districts, 11.14 (80) to 11.8 (74). There were then two matches on Sunday starting at Optus Stadium with Sandover Medallists Jye Bolton and Kane Mitchell leading Claremont to the 12.7 (79) to the 6.12 (48) win against the West Coast Eagles. WA greats inducted to Australian Football Hall of Fame

WA Football greats were last night inducted to the Australian Football Hall of Fame to recognise their stellar contribution to the game.   The late Ron Evans (West Perth and WA State player),1985 Brownlow Medallist Brad Hardie (South Fremantle and WA State player) and Ken Hunter (Claremont and WA State player) were inducted along with former West Coast Eagles premiership coach Michael Malthouse, St Kilda's Trevor Barker and South Australian Jim Deane.   The Australian Football Hall of Fame was established in 1996 and serves to recognise players, coaches, umpires, administrators, and media representatives who have made an outstanding contribution to Australian football. Optus WAFLW Round 5 Wrap

SATURDAY afternoon saw Claremont manage to hold off East Fremantle in a one-point thriller in Round 5 of the WAFL Women's competition while Subiaco kept its impressive form going on Sunday morning. Round 5 of the 2019 Optus WAFLW Premiership Season saw the two matches spread over two days this WA Day long weekend. WAFLW All-Stars named for Exhibition Games

A WAFL Women’s All-Star squad has been selected for upcoming Exhibition Games against the AFLW WA 18s and Queensland. The first Exhibition Game will be played during this weekend’s WAFLW general bye, with the WAFLW All-Stars to play the AFLW WA 18s at 1.45pm on Saturday, June 8 at New Choice Homes Park, East Fremantle. The second Exhibition Game will be played during the next WAFLW general bye on July 20 against Queensland at 2pm at Steel Blue Oval, Bassendean.
