Strijk hopes retirement on hold for a month

Sunday, September 1, 2019 - 2:05 AM - by Chris Pike
HE had resigned himself to the fact that he had just played his final game last Saturday but now West Perth champion Andrew Strijk's career will at least continue until Sunday and he sees no reason why it can't finish with a second premiership in 2019. Then there is the assortment of individual accolades including being a West Perth fairest and best winner in the premiership year of 2013, winning the Bernie Naylor Medal as the league's leading goalscorer in 2018 and earning life membership of the Falcons. Curley proud but not content with Bulldogs achievements

Saturday, August 31, 2019 - 8:37 AM - by Chris Pike
SOUTH Fremantle might have qualified for the WAFL finals from second position for a fourth consecutive year, but given the changeover in his squad from 12 months ago, coach Todd Curley is proud of the performance and looking forward to what lies ahead. South Fremantle spent four years out of finals action after losing the first semi-final to Subiaco in 2011 but then in Curley's second season in charge in 2016, they finished the home and away in second position on the ladder. The Bulldogs would go on to lose the preliminary final to Peel Thunder and then the last two years would follow suit with preliminary final exits to Subiaco and West Perth respectively over the past two seasons. Saturday, August 31, 2019 - 8:01 AM - by Chris Pike
CLAREMONT co-captain Ian Richardson kicked six goals for the first time in eight years last week to almost put the Tigers into hosting position for this Saturday's qualifying final, but now his focus is an improved showing against South Fremantle. As it turned out, Richardson's six goals that helped in Claremont's 106-point win over Swan Districts last week helped give the Tigers a superior percentage to South Fremantle. So all Claremont needed was West Perth to kick one more goal to beat the Bulldogs at HBF Arena and the Tigers would finish up in second position and earn the right to host this Saturday's qualifying final.  Read More ...
