Collegians facility officially openedMonday, February 29, 2016 - 1:51 PM

New clubrooms were officially opened for Collegians Amateur Football Club at David Cruikshank Reserve on Friday, February 19 with the support of the West Australian Football Commission, AFL, City of Nedlands and Department of Sport and Recreation.

The event was hosted by the City of Nedlands and the official opening conducted by Premier Colin Barnett and City of Nedlands Mayor Max Hipkins.

The WAFC contributed $5000 towards a funding application for the project, and played a major role in assisting the club receive a $50,000 grant from the AFL.

The redevelopment was also funded by the City of Nedlands ($1,749,920), the Department for Sport and Recreation ($500,000) and the Collegians Amateur Football Club ($75,000).

WAFC Commissioners Brett Fullarton, Cheryl Edwardes and Jon Carson, along with WAFC Interim Chief Executive Gavin Taylor, represented the WAFC at the official opening.

The redevelopment was completed on schedule in October last year and has been named the Adam Armstrong Pavilion.

The new building consists of:

• A brand new main club room which has a bar and function area catering for up to 150 people.
• Three new change rooms including facilities for coaches, a medical room, storage and players’ facilities.
• The main pavilion has a spacious, open area for socialising, including function space, a kitchen, a cool room, and a bar

The football club will be the main users but the new building will be a multi-functional facility that will be available to others for lease for community groups, private events, parties and functions.
