West Coast and Fremantle will visit and engage with a number football fans and supporters in metropolitan and regional WA communities as part of next year's Australia Post Community Camps.
Over 750 players from each AFL Club will spend two days meeting fans and developing strong links with the grassroots football community between February and March next year.
West Coast will visit a number of metro and regional centres including Kalgoorlie in early February while Fremantle players will venture out into many other districts late February and visit Merridin, Corrigin, Bruce Rock, Mukinbudin, Brookton, Kalannie and the Narembeen community.
The 2016 camps will have a renewed focus on school visits, while also undertaking AFL super clinics and training sessions in the community and for local coaches.
WA General Manager of Community Football Warren Nel said it is a great opportunity for WA football fans to register and get involved in our Play AFL campaign whilst our two AFL clubs are out in the grassroots football communities early 2016.
"Our game development staff look forward to these opportunities to introduce our footy fans to our local footy heroes," Mr Nel said.
AFL General Manager Game and Market Development Simon Lethlean said the Community Camp programs were a great opportunity to engage and give back to the local communities.
"More than ever before, we are seeing players drafted from all corners of Australia so it's important that the next generation get the chance to meet their heroes and maybe even take part in an AFL super clinic run by them," Mr Lethlean said.
"But overall, the most important people in our game are no doubt the fans and the camps are a chance for the clubs and players to recognise the support they receive first-hand."
Currently in its thirteenth year, The Australia Post AFL Community Camps have reached a total of 971,716 students across 5050 school visits since the program's inception in 2003.
