WA umpire Jeff Dalgleish will umpire his first AFL Grand Final this weekend when the West Coast Eagles play Hawthorn.
Dalgliesh, who commenced with the WAFL in 2003 and has umpired 232 league games including 113 AFL games, will join WA boundary umpire Nathan Doig and former WA umpire Brett Rosebury to umpire the AFL Grand Final.
Doig will umpire his fourth Grand Final on the boundary, while Rosebury will umpire his seventh Grand Final .
WAFL Umpire Manager Darryl Sinclair said he had been very fortunate to have worked with Dalgliesh and congratulated him on being selected for the AFL Grand Final.
"We have shared the challenges, the lows, the highs that umpiring our great game brings," he said.
"I would like to thank Michael Ball, Peter Repper and Gareth Parker for also assisting Jeff through the umpiring talent pathway.
"To have two field umpires from WA umpiring and Jeff still living locally is an outstanding achievement and one that we should celebrate.
"Congratulations to Jeff, Brett, Nathan and the other selected AFL umpires on their appointment to the 2015 AFL Grand Final."
Jeff Dalgleish (no.7 Field) – Jeff makes his debut Grand Final appearance on the back of a terrific season of consistent form. He becomes the first field umpire based out of Victoria to achieve this most prestigious appointment and when you consider he only just recently became a father for the first time, 2015 will be a year to remember for him.
Brett Rosebury (no.9 Field) – Not much more can be said about Brett when you consider his record. This is his 7th Grand Final, equal 3rd on the all-time list. A truly remarkable umpire who has the ability to absorb pressure and rise to any occasion. One of the all-time greats.
Nathan Doig (Boundary) – Has just been appointed to his 4th Grand Final. An amazing athlete, Nathan is fast proving himself to be amongst the all-time great boundary umpires and possibly the greatest to come out of the West.
