Freo Dockers Cup showcases schoolgirls talentMonday, July 13, 2015 - 3:45 PM

On the back of an incredibly successful Term 2 Freo Dockers Cup competition, Emmanuel Catholic College and Kolbe Catholic College emerged victorious last weekend at Hamer Park after taking out their respective divisions in the 2015 Freo Dockers Schoolgirls Cup.

Emmanuel held off a fast finishing Darling Range Sports College by four points in a highly skilled and spirited match, taking out the White Division title.

A very slick and well drilled Kolbe College overpowered a gallant Corpus Christi College to claim the Moore division by 43 points. It was marvellous achievement from Kolbe CC after being promoted to the top Moore Division in 2015 following their 2014 White Division title. 

In front of a large crowd and in a terrific promotion for female football, the grand finals were played in perfect conditions as the curtain raisers to WA Women’s Football League Youth Girls matches.

Competition patrons Debbie White and Alison Moore were on hand to present the Freo Dockers Schoolgirls Cup and medallions to the players, coaches and umpires.

Beatrice Devlyn (Emmanuel CC), Tayla McAuliffe (Darling Range SC), Ariana Hethering (Kolbe CC) and Elysia Henley (Corpus Christi) were awarded the match balls post game as recognition for being their schools’ best players in their respective grand finals.

West Australian Football Commission Schools Competitions Manager Clayton Anderson said the WAFC greatly appreciated the support received from all participating schools, the Fremantle Football Club and School Sport WA.

“I would also like to sincerely thank those teachers who gave up their time to coach a school football team in the competition. Without our dedicated teachers this program couldn’t run as successfully as it has for the past 19 years,” he said.
