PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Corey Yeo joined Claremont ahead of the 2014 season after being unable to cement a spot at East Fremantle playing just 18 games after making his debut in 2011, and just over 18 months later and he has turned himself into one of the elite players in the competition.

It was likely only opportunity that had kept him from doing that previously and now after a strong first season with the Tigers in 2014 where he cemented himself as a midfielder, he has taken his game to another level in 2015.

He started his time with Claremont doing some effective run-with roles but he's now branched out to be able to deliver the combination of quietening some of the league's best midfielders while winning a heap of the ball himself.

He's the prototype big-bodied midfielder, is adept at winning the ball in tight and out into space, and is a good kick so he has all the tools and after another 34 possessions in Saturday's win over his old side East Fremantle, he's a big reason why Claremont currently sits inside the top five.

THE SHINING LIGHTS
Marcus Adams was outstanding at full-back for West Perth putting in a terrific defensive and counterattacking performance in the win over Subiaco. Not only did he keep Bernie Naylor Medal leader Shane Yarran goalless from three kicks, but had 17 possessions and seven marks himself.

Co-captain Jay van Berlo also delivered an outstanding all-round performance for the Falcons kicking two goals, picking up 20 possessions, laying eight tackles and quelling the influence of Sam Menegola.

Shane Nelson racked up another 32 possessions and six tackles for the Falcons in the midfield with ruckman Chris Keunen feeding him and the other midfielders wonderfully finishing with 57 hit outs to go with his eight kicks and five tackles.

Andrew Strijk was another strong contributor for West Perth with 24 possessions, six marks and five inside-50 entries while Matt Guadagnin compiled 21 disposals, Aaron Black 20 and Aidan Lynch 18 to go with seven tackles and five inside 50s.

Up forward, Luke Meadows and the returning Matt Fowler kicked two goals each for West Perth.

State midfielder Leigh Kitchin did all he could in the middle to try and lift Subiaco to a ninth straight victory racking up 35 possessions while taking five marks and driving the ball inside-50 on five occasions.

Captain Kyal Horsley also picked up 30 possessions for Subiaco in his second game back from injury with another State representative, Chris Phelan finishing with 23 disposals, five tackles, three inside 50s and a goal.

Brett Robinson also gathered 21 touches while Sam Menegola ended the afternoon with 21 possessions, seven inside-50 entries, six marks, six tackles and a goal.

Premiership full-forward Matt Boland played his first league game of the season and kicked two of Subiaco's five goals but Kyle Halligan, Shane Yarran, Brett Mahoney and Menegola were the main culprits in the Lions kicking 5.15 for the game, combining for 1.11.

Hayden Kennedy and Joel Latham bot did well in defensive roles for Subiaco and picked up 18 possessions respectively as well.

Captain Ryan Cook was outstanding all afternoon for South Fremantle delivering a best on ground performance in the thrilling two-point win over Swan Districts with 34 possessions, 16 marks, seven insdie-50 entries and four tackles.

Kyle Hams wasn’t far behind him starting the game on fire with seven disposals on the ball in just about the first five minutes, and ending the game with 32 touches, seven marks and four inside 50s.

Ashton Hams racked up another 30 possessions and five tackles as well for South Fremantle with Tim Kelly picking up 23 touches, Jacob Martinez 23 and Brendan Verrier 21.

South Fremantle's back-line held up well with Chris Luff holding Tim Geappen to one goal while Blayne Wilson blanketed Ricky Cary and Marlion Pickett was outstanding with his run and carry off the half-back line with his 25 possessions and a goal.

Adam Guglielmana was also freed up in his 101st WAFL game and had 20 disposals.

It was a new-look South Fremantle forward-line in the continued absence of Ben Saunders, loss of Josh Pullman and with Paul Mugambwa back in the reserves. James Sellar was again quiet and Zac Strom didn’t get into the game but Cory Dell'Olio was a welcome returnee kicking two goals.

For the second straight week, though, it was Haiden Schloithe who was South Fremantle's most effective forward kicking four goals from 16 possessions. Craig White also chipped in with two before coming off in the third quarter with a nasty cork to his back.

Swan Districts' back-line had a host of outstanding performers and none were better than Tallan Ames who not only limited South Fremantle's Strom to just four kicks, but had 18 disposals and seven marks himself.

He even spent some time in the ruck chopping out Nathan Blakely and went forward in the last quarter to kick a goal that still gave his team a late sniff of victory.

Tony Notte was also outstanding at centre half-back for Swans finishing with 17 disposals and five marks while holding Sellar to nine touches and three marks, most of which came when he was in the ruck.

Alex Howard also had a good battle with the dangerous Dell'Olio and Nathan Broad provided plenty of run and drive for the black-and-whites off half-back with 24 possessions and 10 marks.

Jacob Burnham also gathered 23 disposals and took eight marks for Swans while in the midfield, Ryan Davis had 23 touches, eight tackles and two goals with Adam Faulkner picking up 21 possessions and Matt Riggio 18.

Matthew Jukes continued his good form up forward for Swans kicking three goals to now give him 15 goals in five matches in 2015. Matthew Rogers also kicked two goals for Swans from 15 disposals and six marks.

Claremont held East Fremantle goalless for almost three full quarters on Saturday to end up winning by 68 points to mean the Tigers have now won six of their last seven games to sit in fifth position, while the Sharks have lost six straight to be slipping out of finals contention.

Corey Yeo was once again outstanding for Claremont in the midfield finishing with another 34 possessions, six marks, six inside-50 entries and five tackles.

He wasn’t the only Tigers midfielder to win plenty of the ball, though, with Keifer Yu gathering 27 disposals, eight marks, six inside 50s and a goal, Ryan Neates 25 touches, Tom Ledger 23 (two goals), Oliver Tate 20 and Haydn Busher 20.

Beau Maister continues to build some form at full-forward for Claremont kicking three goals from 15 possessions and seven marks while dual premiership player Ian Richardson had two goals from 24 disposals, seven marks and seven inside-50 entries. Kepler Bradley also kicked two goals.

Claremont's back-line was strong letting East Fremantle kick only three goals which came in the last half-hour of the game while Matthew Davies set up play from half-back with 27 possessions and Francis Watson came back into the team and had 18 disposals while taking a game-high 10 marks.

Peel kicked four goals to one in the opening quarter against Perth and were never challenged the rest of the afternoon cruising to the 62-point victory and improving to third position on the ladder as a result.

Tendai Mzungu, Zac Clarke and Matt Taberner are three players desperate to earn a recall into the Fremantle AFL team and none of the three could have done much more to impress Dockers coach Ross Lyon on Saturday.

Mzungu again put in a best on ground performance with 26 possessions, nine inside 50s, six tackles and a goal while Clarke finished with 21 disposals, five tackles, 36 hit outs, five inside 50s and a goal as he split his time between the ruck and up forward.

Matt Taberner needed to kick some goals if he was to earn a Dockers recall and that's exactly what the key forward did booting four majors to go with 18 possessions and seven marks.

Max Duffy also kicked four goals for Peel with Gerald Ugle outstanding with three goals from 20 possessions.

Jacob Ballard gathered 24 disposals for the Thunder, Connor Blakely 23, Lachie Weller 23, Brendon Jones 20 and Ethan Hughes 20 in the back-line.

Jonathon Griffin finished with 39 hit outs in the ruck with Ben Hancock also collecting 19 possessions.

It was another tough afternoon for the Demons as they lost an eighth straight match despite another strong performance by Aidan Tropiano (31 possessions, eight tackles) and former Peel player Liam McKenna (30 disposals, 10 marks, seven tackles).

Brennan Stack kicked two of Perth's eight goals with Brent Latch finishing with 23 possessions, Jared Bell 21, Daniel O'Sullivan 21, Brett Wolfenden 18 and Michael Sinclair 17.
