EAST Perth, South Fremantle and West Perth all put to bed the concerns over playing on a short break with the three teams finishing strongly to record impressive wins in Saturday's Round 11 WAFL action while the league-leading Subiaco continued its dominant form.
All four Round 11 WAFL matches took place on Saturday afternoon starting with East Perth coming from behind to beat Swan Districts 13.9 (87) to 11.4 (70) at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval.
Subiaco also beat East Fremantle 15.18 (108) to 8.12 (60) at Leederville's Medibank Stadium while South Fremantle defeated Perth 17.10 (112) to 11.8 (74) at Fremantle Oval and West Perth downed Peel Thunder 17.9 (111) to 17.5 (107) in a high-scoring thriller at Mandurah's Bendigo Bank Stadium.
East Perth moved into the top-five and improved to a 5-5 record thanks to a 17-point win over Swan Districts but the Royals had to come from behind to do so.
Swans might have come into the game without premiership veterans Justin Simpson and Tim Geappen, but started strongly coming off a win over Perth with five goals to two in the opening quarter, and then still led by one straight goal at half-time.
However, East Perth then kicked four goals to two in the third quarter, and four more to two in the last to end up winning by 17 points.
Star West Coast forward Jack Darling came in and played his first game of the season and starred up forward for East Perth kicking five goals from 10 possessions and seven marks to likely mean he comes in straightaway for the Eagles next Saturday against Essendon at Domain Stadium.
Scott Lycett, Paul Johnson and Craig Wulff all kicked two goals each for East Perth as well with Johnson dominant in the ruck with 17 disposals, six marks and 39 hit outs.
Xavier Ellis racked up 27 possessions for East Perth, Brendan Lee 24, Kane Lucas 24, Brant Colledge 23, Garry Moss 20 and Freddie Clutterbuck 19.
Matthew Jukes and Ryan Davis kicked three goals apiece for Swan Districts with Davis also finishing with 30 possessions and 10 marks.
Aaron Elari compiled 32 disposals for the black-and-whites, Adam Faulkner 31, Nathan Broad 28, Matt Riggio 25, Tony Notte 22, Alex Howard 22, Matthew Rogers 21, Kirk Ugle 18 and Simon Donovan 18.
South Fremantle was another team coming off a short break having played, and beaten, East Fremantle on Monday before taking on Perth on Saturday at Fremantle Oval with the Demons having had a full seven days of preparation.
And it was a tight contest for three quarters with the Bulldogs leading by six points at three quarter-time, but they then dominated the last term with seven goals to one to run out 38-point winners.
South Fremantle was missing full-forward Ben Saunders, who injured a hamstring on return in the reserves, and first choice midfielders Tim Kelly, Haiden Schloithe and Jacob Martinez but still finished all over the top of Perth.
Josh Pullman was the star in the forward-line with four goals from 16 possessions and six marks while Cory Dell'Olio, Shaun Bewick, Craig White, Paul Mugambwa, Ashton Hams and Jacob Dragovich all kicked two goals apiece.
Steven Verrier was moved into the midfield and played a tremendous game with 27 possessions while Ashton Hams finished with 23 disposals and in defence, Adam McIntosh had 20 touches, Kyle Hams 19 and Adam Guglielmana did well restricting Mitch Morton to one goal.
Aidan Tropiano was again outstanding for Perth with 36 possessions and 10 tackles with Liam McKenna gathering 28 disposals, Michael Sinclair 27, Dene White 22, Jacob Payne 21 and Brett Wolfenden 20.
Jarryd Morton and Cody Leggett kicked three goals each for Perth with Payne booting two while Toby Gianatti and Daniel O'Sullivan did well in run-with roles against Dell'Olio and Ryan Cook respectively.
West Perth and Peel Thunder played out a tremendous attacking contest at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday, and in the end it was the Falcons who finished in front by four points in a game that could have gone either way right throughout the contest.
Peel got a break in the first quarter but by quarter-time scores were all tied up at six goals apiece before the Falcons held a narrow four-point lead at half-time.
Things were all level again at three quarter-time with Peel kicking seven goals to six in the third term, but West Perth just prevailed in one of the games of the season in the finish.
Matt Johnson ended up kicking four goals for West Perth with Tyler Keitel booting three in his league debut including kicking a goal with his first kick in league football.
Luke Meadows also kicked three majors for the Falcons and Corey Chalmers two.
Shane Nelson racked up another 31 possessions with Aaron Black picking up 28 disposals, Andrew Strijk 28, Kris Shannon 27, Matt Guadagnin 21, Jay van Berlo 21 and Marcus Adams 20 to go with 10 marks.
Max Duffy and Leroy Jetta kicked four goals each for Peel with Tendai Mzungu and Nathan Fahey booting two apiece.
Connor Blakely racked up 34 possessions for the Thunder, Jacob Ballard 32, Matt de Boer 28 (14 tackles), Brendon Jones 25, Josh Deluca 21, and Mzungu 20.
Jack Hannath had a big game in the ruck also for Peel with 18 touches, six marks, 35 hit outs and a goal while Tanner Smith was outstanding at full-back for Peel keeping West Perth's Michael Lourey goalless.
East Fremantle was the only team coming off the five-day break unable to win on Saturday and the Sharks coming up against the league-leading reigning premiers, and having two goalless quarters certainly played a big part in that.
Subiaco kicked the only two goals of the first quarter but East Fremantle hit back with six goals to three in the second term to hold an impressive nine-point lead at the main break.
However, the Sharks again went goalless in the third quarter and the Lions piled on five goals, and then kicked another five to two in the last to end up winning by 48 points to remain two games clear on top of the ladder.
Sam Menegola put in a stunning performance for Subiaco in his first game of the season since joining the Lions after being delisted by Fremantle at the end of last season. He finished his first game in Lions colours with 35 possessions, nine inside 50s and two goals.
Chris Deluca, Brett Robinson and Shane Yarran kicked two goals each for the Lions as well with Robinson racking up 34 disposals, Chris Phelan 28, Joel Latham 22, Scott Hancock 21 and Lachlan Delahunty 18 to go with eight marks, five tackles, seven hit outs, four inside 50s and a goal.
Julian Locantro and George Hampson kicked two goals each for East Fremantle with Jamie McNamara amassing 24 possessions, Brock O'Brien 23, Rory O'Brien 21, Jayden Schofield 20, Sean Henson 19, Tom Hooker 18 and Locantro 18.
