COLD, wet and windy conditions struck across Perth on Saturday for Round 9 WAFL action and that resulted in East Perth and South Fremantle posting record low scores in defeat, while Subiaco moved further clear on top of the ladder and West Perth moved up into second spot.

All four matches took place on Saturday afternoon ahead of next Saturday's State match against South Australia to be held at Lathlain Park.

West Perth moved into second position with a 16.9 (105) to 10.13 (73) victory over East Fremantle at Joondalup's HBF Arena while Claremont beat East Perth 8.12 (60) to 2.9 (21) at the Showground, Peel Thunder downed South Fremantle 12.13 (85) to 5.11 (41) at Fremantle Oval and Subiaco defeated Swan Districts 11.18 (84) to 6.6 (42) at Leederville's Medibank Stadium.

Second spot went on the line between West Perth and East Fremantle at HBF Arena on Saturday, and it was a tight contest for much of the afternoon.

The Sharks had the first five shots on goal to start things off but all were behinds with the Falcons kicking the first goal of the game and managed to lead by 23 points just before half-time, but just by 17 at the main break.

Three quick goals to start the third quarter saw the Falcons lead by 35 points, but the Sharks did close to within 14 to start the final term before West Perth steadied with four of the last five goals to win by 32 points and move into second position on the ladder.

Aidan Lynch and Matt Fowler kicked three goals apiece for West Perth with Aaron Black and Michael Lourey both adding two.

Black also racked up 26 disposals to go with those two goals with Shane Nelson finishing with 25 touches, Rohan Kerr 21, Steven Browne 20, Andrew Strijk 18 and ruckman Chris Keunen 16 to go with 43 hit outs.

Julian Locantro, George Hampson and Cameron Eardley kicked two goals apiece for East Fremantle with Liam Anthony gathering 31 possessions, Rory O'Brien 28, Mark McGough 26, Locantro 22, Sean Henson 18 and ruckman Rob Young 16 to go with six marks and 42 hit outs.

Claremont lost its first five games of the 2015 season but the Tigers have now won three straight following Saturday's 39-point win over East Perth at the Showground.

The Royals' score of 2.9 (21) was their lowest ever against the Tigers with Claremont able to hold East Perth to just the four behinds in all of the second half.

Aaron Holt and Shane McAdam kicked two goals apiece for Claremont while Keifer Yu racked up 29 possessions, Ryan Neates 28, Corey Yeo 27, Matthew Davies 25, Haydn Busher 21 and Tom Ledger 20.

Alec Waterman and Tom Shanahan were East Perth's two goal scorers with Kane Lucas finishing with 27 possessions, Steven Payne 25, Brendan Lee 24, Mitch Howlett 19, Tom Barrass 19 and Nathan Blee 18.

Ruckman Paul Johnson's was his team's best on a tough afternoon, though, finishing with 19 possessions and 39 hit outs up against both Mark Seaby and Darcy Cameron.

South Fremantle bounced back from three straight losses with a win over East Perth prior to last week's bye and Peel was coming off two consecutive defeats, but it was the Thunder who recorded a strong 44-point win at Fremantle Oval on Saturday with the Bulldogs' score their lowest ever against Peel.

A goalless second quarter proved costly for South Fremantle with Peel going in 31 points in front at half-time and then despite South Fremantle kicking the first two goals of the third term, the Thunder were never seriously threatened and kicked the game's last four goals to win by 44 points.

Tendai Mzungu put in a best on ground display for Peel finishing with 29 possessions, nine tackles and two goals but the Thunder had plenty of outstanding ball winners with Connor Blakely gathering 28 disposals, Jacob Ballard 26, Ed Langdon 25, Lachie Weller 24 and Max Duffy 20.

Craig Moller and Tom Vandeleur both kicked three goals apiece for Peel while the back-line held up well led by strong performances from Tanner Smith and Ethan Hughes in particular.

Kyle Hams was terrific for South Fremantle finishing with 28 possessions and nine tackles with captain Ryan Cook working hard for 26 disposals. Simon Panizza also gathered 21 touches, Tim Kelly 20, Blayne Wilson 19, Adam McIntosh 18 and Jarrod Parry 18 to go with 10 tackles.

Adam Guglielmana did well defensively holding Leroy Jetta to just four kicks and one goal while Alistair Gillespie, McIntosh and Wilson were impressive in the back half as well. Cory Dell'Olio was the Bulldogs' only multiple goal scorer with two.

Subiaco moved two games clear on top of the ladder with a 42-point win over Swan Districts at Medibank Stadium with the Lions having now won five straight games since their only loss of the season while Swans have lost their last two since a good win over Peel Thunder.

Despite losing Brad Stevenson to a knee injury and having Shane Yarran held to just one goal by Nathan Broad, Subiaco still cruised to the win with Chris Deluca kicking three goals to lead the way after an injury-interrupted start to the season for the premiership small forward.

Leigh Kitchin racked up 31 possessions for Subiaco with Chris Phelan gathering 29 disposals, Brett Robinson 24, Scott Hancock 22, Lachlan Delahunty 21, Wayde Twomey 20 and Hayden Kennedy 19.

Matthew Rogers kicked two goals for Swan Districts with Aaron Elari racking up 33 possessions, Adam Faulkner 26, Justin Simpson 24, Kirk Ugle 21, Nathan Blakely 21 (32 hit outs), Ryan Davis 19, Tony Notte 19 (11 marks) and Rogers 18.
