Fremantle Dockers partnership a big plus for school students Tuesday, May 12, 2015 - 1:03 PM

The WAFC in partnership with the Fremantle Football Club WA are proud to support Australian Rules Football in WA Schools.

The WAFC recognises how important our game is to the social fabric of WA schools and remains steadfast in working in partnership with the Fremantle Football Club to continue growing the game and delivering programs and resources to schools to ensure every student derives a positive experience from our great game.

So what’s on offer in 2015?  The WAFC and Fremantle Football Club cater for all age groups from Year 1 to Year 12 and provide opportunities for both male and female students to participate

Freo Footy Skills integrated range of programs and activities reflecting the club’s ongoing commitment to the West Australian Community.  Freo Footy Skills allows students the opportunity to participate in a range of “game sense” activities, including Freo Fast Ball, Freo Kwik Kick and Freo Long Bomb.

Freo Dockers Cup - Primary Schools proven to be an extremely popular interschool football competition for primary aged Year 5/6 female students. The Freo Dockers Cup is played either in a one day Lightning Carnival format or a weekly round robin competition.

Freo Dockers Cup - Secondary Schools entering its 20th year of competition this Year 10-12 interschool format is highly contested across 3 divisions. For the lower school girls the Freo Dockers Cup is played in a one day Lightning Carnival format to give participants a taste of interschool footy .

Freo Dockers Shield - played under a “one day” lightning carnival format organized by the schools in their District/or coordinated by their WAFL District. Games are played under “AFL Junior Rules” for male students aged 10 and 11 years.

Freo House Footy - Freo House Footy is a modified game that has strong parallels with the traditional game of Australian Football. Designed so that everyone can play, it is less physically demanding, has minimal time commitment with a major emphasis on fun and safety (non contact).
