WAFC Chief Operating Officer Nick Sautner said the 2015 WAFL fixturing process had endeavoured to achieve a home and away flow for each club wherever possible, maximise attendance and focus on key rounds for the competition.

“A significant number of club requests have been met and exciting clashes scheduled for feature rounds,” he said.

“The return to a Top 5 finals system will also create an additional round of finals and give all nine clubs extra incentive to finish the season as strongly as possible.

“I thank the WAFL clubs for their cooperation and contribution throughout the fixturing process, which took longer than usual this season due to finalising the details of our new broadcast partnership with the 7 Network.

“We are delighted that WAFL games will be broadcast on the 7 Network and thank major sponsor McDonald’s and supporting partners AHG, Kennards, reiwa.com, TABtouch and the WAFL Clubs for making this possible.

“It is extremely important that the WAFL competition is televised in the Perth metropolitan area and regional Western Australia and the WAFC has worked very hard over the last two years to achieve certainty of statewide coverage going forward.

“The Channel 7 broadcast of the McDonald’s WAFL Premiership Season will start with a bang at Domain Stadium under lights on a Saturday night.

“This will be the first game at Domain Stadium for 2015 and we have big plans to make sure it’s a blockbuster, including the chance for fans to win $100,000 thanks to reiwa.com.

“Fans will also be able to have a kick on the hallowed turf at the quarter and half time breaks.

“This will be the first of 18 live WAFL games on the 7 Network in 2015, not including finals, and we are genuinely excited about the new opportunities this will present for the competition.

“We have tried to minimise changes to traditional start times for games where possible, while also trying to maximise viewership opportunities by avoiding direct clashes with AFL games and leading into and out of live AFL games on the 7 Network,” Mr Sautner said.
