THE stage is set for the 2014 WA Women’s Football League Grand Final this weekend at HBF Arena with Coastal Titans earning a shot at redemption against Swan Districts.

After finishing the season in first on the ladder, the Titans lost the Second Semi Final to Swan Districts two weeks ago which forced them into a Preliminary Final against a young Peel side.

The Titans were able to dispatch of the Thunderbirds, setting up a rematch of the 2013 Grand Final and the chance for their seventh Premiership flag.

To record that flag they are faced with the toughest test in the competition however, a Swan Districts team at the peak of its powers that easily accounted for the Titans just a fortnight ago.

That final was the fourth times the teams met this year with the ledger now split at two apiece.

The Titans won bragging rights at the start of the year when they defeated Swan Districts by one goal, but roles were reversed when the teams met again in Round 7 as Swan Districts came from five points down at half time to steal a three point victory.

In their final encounter of the home and away season in Round 12 it was the Titans turn to come from behind, keeping Swan Districts goalless in the second half to overturn a 29-point half time deficit to win by two points.

Remarkably, the 69-point win for Swan Districts in the first final was the largest margin between the two for the past two years and the first time the result has been greater than one goal since the Titans defeated the Swans in the 2013 Second Semi Final.

Now, the two teams are set for a decider of the highest order, with the Titans aiming to record a record seventh flag and the Swan Districts looking to go back-to-back for the first time in the clubs history.

Highlighting the two clubs dominance this season, Coastal Titans will again face Swan Districts in the 2014 Reserves Grand Final.

Like their League counterparts, the Titans and Swans finished first and second on the ladder at the end of the home and away season having easily accounted for the majority of their opponents.

The Grand Final will be the fourth times the two sides have met this year with Titans taking the points in Round 1, as well as earning their place in the Grand Final with a victory in the Second Semi Final.

Swan Districts will be confident they can cause an upset claim their second League-Reserves double in as many years though, having come from behind to beat the Titans by five-points when the two teams met at Grenville Reserve back in July.

Both matches will be played this Sunday at HBF Arena Joondalup, with bounce down for the Reserves Grand Final at 12:00pm followed by the League Grand Final at 2:30pm.
