Western Australia's State U18 Youth Girls have departed for Canberra to compete at the 4th AFL Youth Girls National Championships from May 3 to 8.

With the support of nearly 30 local sponsors, family and friends, the WA team of 27 girls and 10 coaching staff have been training for the Championships since January.
WA Head Coach Michelle Cowan said ahe was confident the WA team would perform well.
"Last year they were so close and this year we know they will be great again. We are confident that this team has unity, is hungry for the win and will be selfless in their teamwork. We believe in ourselves and believe in this team,” she said.
Gungahlin Town Centre Oval will be the key venue for the Championships, which for the first time will also feature a combined Northern Territory and Tasmania team.
The Woomeras (a combined team from the Kickstart female championships in 2013) will also participate for the first time.
