Perth defeated Claremont 4.3 (27) to 2.1 (13) in the Grand Final of the 2014 Nicky Winmar Carnival at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Sunday, March 2.
WAFC Community Engagement Manager Paul Mugambwa said approximately 2500 people attended the event in Mandurah, which featured 11 teams from metro and regional WA. There were also two all Aboriginal girls teams competing in a special exhibition match.
“It was a fantastic day and on behalf of the WA Football Commission I would like to thank the Department of Sport & Recreation, Aboriginal Health and the City of Mandurah for their assistance in coordinating and delivering the carnival,” Mugambwa said.
“There was some outstanding talent on display and Footy Plus outcomes were also achieved with players and coaches participating in free medical screening on the day and prior to the carnival.”
