WA Female Kickstart team namedFriday, September 6, 2013 - 2:05 PM

WA’s Squad has been named for the first AFL Female KickStart Championships.

Leading the team is Head Coach Allana Dickie with Charlene Headland as her assistant. Managing the off field success is WAFC Manager Emerging Markets; Paul Mugambwa (team manager) and Lucy Stewart (Head Trainer).

Dickie, Headland and Mugambwa selected the team after several trail sessions culminating in a scratch match on Sunday.

With 45 girls registering their interest WA’s coaching staff had some tough decisions to make on Sunday, with 3 positions being dedicated to regional players and total of 12 spots to fill it was never going to be easy.

Mugambwa stated there was an outstanding display of talent on show at the WAFC Youth Girls Grand Final and again at the Scratch Match held on Sunday at Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean.

“The WAFC Youth Girls Grand Final on the 25th August was a great game to watch, the tackling pressure and skill from the girls was exciting given a number of them were trying out for the KickStart team.”

Dickie mentioned what a great initiative the KickStart Nationals is “This is a great opportunity for the girls and it gives them something to aim towards and to continue to train and work hard for”

The WA Female KickStart Team had their Jumper Presentation night Wednesday September 4 at Brownes Stadium in Lathlain, where the team was officially announced
