We are excited to be presenting the WA Football Volunteer Strategy 2026 - 2028 which will frame the way we engage, support and recognise volunteers over the next three years.

Developed alongside the WA Football Strategy 2026 – 2028 and based on research and community consultation, the Volunteer Strategy ensures that club volunteers are front of mind in decision making processes that impact community football.

This strategy acknowledges that our way of life is constantly changing and this changing landscape provides both challenges and opportunities.

Volunteers are the backbone of our great game. They ensure that football is delivered each week and is accessible to all.

Through clear decision making, volunteer-centric investment priorities and a focus on partnerships and collaboration, WA Football is committed to working side by side to with football volunteers to reduce workload and maximise enjoyment.

“We’re determined to ensure that volunteers and the vital role they play in our great game is at the forefront of our thinking, and this strategy reflects that," WA Football CEO Michael Roberts said.

"We need to continue to find ways to adapt and evolve with the ever-changing sporting landscape and ensure that football volunteers are provided the resources, support and recognition to thrive.

"Communication, training and resources, and culture and governance are the three guiding principles of our volunteer strategy and it is underpinned by a commitment to actively support our volunteers through the adoption of Volunteering Australia’s National Standards for Volunteer Involvement.

"By aligning the volunteer strategy with the WA Football Strategy 2026-2028 we want to keep building on and underline our status as the game for all Western Australians.”
