South Fremantle earned a position in the WAFC Youth Girls Grand Final after a 27 point win against the Peel Thunderbirds at the weekend.
Thunderbirds went into the 2nd Semi as the undefeated favourites after being the only team to defeat South Fremantle during the season, winning by just one goal in their previous encounter.
South Freo proved too strong this time around and went straight through to the Grand Final, awaiting the result of the Preliminary finals this weekend to see who they will battle for the 2013 Rogers Cup Premiership title.
Perth Angels and Swan Districts finished the season on equal premiership points, but with a stronger percentage and after beating Swans by 21 points earlier in the year, Perth Angels went into the 1st Semi as the favourites. It was a close game in the first half, but the Swans came out strong in the 3rd quarter piled on a few goals and finished with a margin of 40 points.
South Freo 10.10 (70) def. Thunderbirds 6.7 (43)
Swans 8.10 (58) def Angels 2.6 (18)
The Semi Finals were followed with award presentations which saw Beatrice Devlyn (South Fremantle) take out the inaugural 2013 Rogers Cup Fairest and Best Medallion. Named after Life Member and female football patron, Charmaine Rogers, the medallion symbolises the overall best player in the competition as voted by the umpires.
