Sporting Celebrities Take the Plunge for MND WAFL FundraiserWednesday, July 30, 2025 - 10:01 AM

Five of the most accomplished sporting figures in WA have answered the call to arms to take part in Jordan’s DIY Big Freeze at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

West Coast Eagles greats John Worsfold and Andrew Embley will be joined by AFLW Eagles coach and Hall of Famer Daisy Pearce, former tennis champion Alicia Molik and two-time Commonwealth Games gold medal winning Hockeyroo Jayde Taylor as they take the plunge into the icy water.

The former athletes are helping raise money and awareness for MND sufferers including Jordan Early, a 42-year-old who has been diagnosed with the disease.

Jordan grew up in Perth after migrating from Scotland with his family and quickly found his feet at Hale School.

Jordan went to university at UWA, graduating with a commerce degree, and in his early 20s he met the love of his life Joanna.

Jordan and Joanna spent the next decade travelling the world before moving back to Perth in 2017 and getting married.

They have three children: six-year-old Seb, four-year-old Nina and two-year-old Keira.

Throughout his travels Jordan has made life-long friends with his open, generous and self-deprecating sense of humour.

He has had incredible community support following his diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease in February this year and is driven to do everything he can to raise money for the Fight MND charity to help others.

“I hope that one day a young mum or dad will walk into a neurologists office to receive a diagnosis of MND and will walk out of that room with the hope of a cure,” Early said.

Worsfold, known for his courage on the field, has enormous admiration for the way Jordan has tackled his health challenge.

“I will be sliding to support Jordan’s fight against MND and urge footy fans to rally behind him and his family because every dollar you donate helps drive world-class research and supports those in the community facing this battle,” Worsfold said.

Pearce took part in the annual Fight MND Big Freeze event at the MCG in 2021, a tradition which has gained national recognition, highlighting the plight of footy great Neale Daniher and his long running battle with the disease.

“Having kids go to the same school as Jordan’s children I heard about his diagnosis and had no hesitation volunteering to take the plunge,” Pearce said.

“It’s an honour to play a role in helping raise money for such a wonderful cause

The event has also drawn community leaders with Scotch Headmaster Alec O’Donnell, Hale Headmaster Dean Dell’Oro and Alan Jones, the Headmaster at Christ Church Grammar School, also taking part the plunge.

Jordan’s DIY Big Freeze will take place at 2pm at Revo Fitness Stadium ahead of the Sullivan Logistics League showdown between Claremont and Peel Thunder.

The Big Freeze challenge and the League match will be shown live on Channel 7.
