The New Holland State Country Football Teams coaches have been locked in for 2025 with Craig Otto heading up the men’s program for the first time and Rennie Meadmore returning for a second year in the women’s.
Otto has a wealth of coaching experience including three years coaching the Peel Football League’s colts, several roles in the WAFL, head coach at Perth Football League outfit Baldivis and midfield coach for the winning WA side at the National Under-18s Championship in 2019.
Otto, who takes over from Michael Griffiths, said it was an honour to represent WA in a coaching capacity and was looking forward to the challenge.
“I am really excited to be appointed coach of this year's WA State Country Team, it’s an appointment I'm really looking forward to,” Otto said.
“Personally, It's an honour to be involved with anything to do with WA football and representing your State.
“I hope to get great buy-in from the players who will get to wear the black and gold with a real sense of pride and satisfaction.
“I am keen to get out and start catching up with perspective players around the grounds.
“I am also looking forward to watching some great footy at the Country Championships in July.”
It will be Busselton product Meadmore’s fifth year involved with the WA Country program, including three as a player.
She felt motivation was high after a thrilling draw against Perth Football League last year.
“Team selection has been going well with many females moving around the country side to make selection enjoyable,” Meadmore said.
"Being in my second year as coach but fifth year in the program, I feel it's going from strength to strength and I’m extremely excited for what's to come in this program"
"With a draw last year we are even more motivated to select a team that can take the win.”
The women’s squad faces the Perth Football League at Gosnells Oval on Friday 20 June in an annual fixture that was re-ignited last year after a long hiatus.
The men’s team take on traditional rivals South Australia Country under lights at Sullivan Logistics Stadium in Leederville on Saturday 26 July.
