Forty-five WAFL players have thrown their hat in the ring to get picked up in Wednesday’s AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
Peel Thunder premiership defender Michael Sellwood and Subiaco recruit Archer May are among the State’s best chances to get drafted this week.
Both Sellwood and May have caught the eye of AFL recruiters after a strong start to the Sullivan Logistics WAFL season.
Injuries to key calls across the AFL has seen Claremont ruckman Ollie Eastland and East Fremantle big man Lachie Blakiston’s chances boosted.
Eastland booted three goals to go with 47 hit-outs and 14 disposals in the Tigers’ big victory over Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday, while Blakiston also impressed in a winning cause for the Sharks against East Perth at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.
Three-time Simpson medallist Milan Murdock (East Fremantle) and Perth midfielder Brandan Parfitt are among the others hoping to get their name called out on Wednesday.
All 10 WAFL clubs have nominations including nine apiece from Perth and Subiaco.
