In what was a perfect end to the National Women’s Round, Kennedy Baptist College and St Mary’s School celebrated grand final success at Claremont Oval after taking out their respective divisions in the 2013 WAFC Schoolgirls Cup.

Kennedy overcame a determined Northam Senior High School by 19 points in a highly entertaining match, taking out the White Division title.

A very slick and fast St Mary’s overpowered a gallant St Brigid’s College to claim the Moore division by 36 points.

It was marvelous achievement from St Mary’s after taking out the 2012 White division title they were promoted to the top Moore Division in 2013. 

In front of a large crowd, in perfect playing conditions and in a terrific promotion for female football, the grand finals were played as the curtain raisers to WA Women’s Football League matches.

Competition patrons Debbie White and Alison Moore were on hand to present the WAFC Schoolgirls Cup and medallions to the players, coaches and umpires.

Georgina Varney (Kennedy BC), Taylor Ferguson (Northam SHS), Adele Arnup and Jasmin Stewart (St Mary’s) and Siobhan Williams (St Brigid’s) were awarded the match balls post game as recognition for being their schools’ best players in the grand finals.

West Australian Football Commission Schools Competitions Manager Clayton Anderson said the WAFC greatly appreciated the support received from all participating schools and School Sport WA.

“I would also like to sincerely thank those teachers who gave up their time to coach a school football team in the competition. Without our dedicated teachers this program couldn’t run as successfully as it has for the past 17 years,” he said.
