Business-minded footy fans have a unique opportunity to invest in the AFL's newest version of the game – Cadbury AFL 9s.
It's a fast, free-flowing social football competition that involves 9 players per team on a smaller field. AFL9s targets the recreational player by using modified rules that can be played by both males and females of all ages.
To date, a number of Cadbury AFL 9s centres have been operating throughout the metropolitan area. The WAFC is now aiming to grow participation by providing a unique business opportunity to potential AFL9s licence holders.
Suitable applicants will receive a licence to run a Cadbury AFL9s centre in the Perth metropolitan area or in regional Western Australia. When a licensee invests in a zone licence, they receive exclusive rights to run AFL9s centres within that zone.
Affiliation and insurance fees provide the licensee with access to a Licensee Support Strategy, along with Public Liability Insurance and Personal Injury Insurance for all players.
In addition to continuous support and program innovation, licensees will receive support with locating a venue, marketing and promotions, umpire accreditation and induction courses. A licensee is also able to recruit sponsors for their local centres.
There are approximately 14,000 school participants playing competitions that utilize the AFL9s gameplay format. These competitions can be used as a pathway for the participants during school years as well as after they graduate.
Other markets which can be targeted are senior community players during their off-season, other recreational sports participants and those not currently playing a sport.
Cadbury AFL 9s has reached all of its growth targets to date and is on track to meet projected targets. The AFL is using AFL9s as a key driver in the goal of reaching 1 million national participants. By 2016, it is predicted that AFL9s will have up to 100,000 national participants.
