THE last round of the WAFLW season takes place this weekend and there's plenty at stake with Claremont and West Perth fighting over second position still, and Swan Districts and South Fremantle battling over the last finals position.
There are some things locked in already coming into the last round and that includes reigning premiers East Fremantle being guaranteed of the minor premiership while Subiaco, East Perth and Peel Thunder are out of the finals hunt.
There is plenty to look out for in the last round of the home and away season, though, and it gets underway on Saturday at 11.05am with Peel Thunder at home to Swan Districts at Lane Group Stadium.
The Thunder have the chance to avoid the wooden spoon with a win while Swans can guarantee their finals position with a victory in Mandurah.
Next up on Saturday afternoon is a Fremantle derby with East Fremantle taking on South Fremantle on neutral turf at Claremont's Revo Fitness Stadium.
The Sharks are already guaranteed of the minor premiership with a two-game lead on the rest of the competition and having won 10 straight. South Fremantle is still a chance to make finals with a win but only if Swans lose to the Thunder earlier in the day.
The last game on Saturday is in the evening as part of a double-header with Claremont to host East Perth at Revo Fitness Stadium.
The Tigers can guarantee second position and a finals double chance with the win while the Royals could also guarantee they avoid the wooden spoon with the upset victory.
The home and away season in the WAFLW will then wrap up on Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Logistics Stadium with Subiaco hosting West Perth.
The Lions might not be able to make finals but will want a strong finish to the season while the Falcons are gearing up for a first finals appearance and could still be playing for second spot should Claremont lose the previous evening.
"This might sound cliché but we aren’t focussed on ladder position, our focus remains internal on what we all can do to sing our song once Sunday is through," said West Perth defender Emily Bennett.
"Subiaco’s brand of football is fierce and at times we have looked to them for areas of growth. Reality is we have played them a total of five times in WAFLW and the record is 3-2 to them.
"We don’t yet carry the leverage to go in expecting the outcome to go our way, so we will put our best foot forward and control what we can control."
