IT'S another three-game WAFL round this weekend highlighted by Swan Districts and South Fremantle paying tribute to the legendary John Todd as the two clubs he has such a history with battling over the cup named in his honour.
Claremont, East Perth, West Perth and the West Coast Eagles will all have the bye as the other six teams lock horns in Round 11 of the WAFL season with the three games spread across Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
The round gets underway on Saturday afternoon with Peel Thunder and Perth both back in action after the bye last weekend.
They do battle at Lane Group Stadium with the Thunder attempting to reclaim top position with a win while the Demons are trying to get off the bottom and to snap a five-game losing run.
Next up on Saturday afternoon is going to be a massive occasion at Steel Blue Oval with Swan Districts and South Fremantle who are playing in tribute of the legendary John Todd, and playing for the John Todd Memorial Cup.
It will be the first time the two teams have played for the annual trophy since his passing last week and it's only fitting the first game the two teams play since is up against one another.
Todd coached Swan Districts to premierships 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1990 as part of his 417 games in charge while he won a Sandover Medal as part of a 132-game playing career with South Fremantle while also coaching the Bulldogs to the 1997 premiership as part of 172 games at the helm.
Swans and the Bulldogs will play in his honour at Bassendean on Saturday and the game itself has plenty on the line with South Fremantle sitting third at 6-2 and Swan Districts fifth at 4-4.
Bulldogs midfielder Robbie Turnbull knows what a big occasion it's going to be.
"Obviously he's a club legend and he coached a lot of games for both our clubs so it's going to make it another special day for both teams in a different way to what the derby was," Turnbull said.
"It's another big game coming up this weekend where we can commemorate both John Todd but also Tom Grljusich and hopefully get the win for Souths in honour of them."
The round will then wrap up on Sunday afternoon at Revo Fitness Stadium with East Fremantle and Subiaco both looking to continue their momentum after wins against West Perth and West Coast last weekend respectively.
