WA women star at National ChampionshipsTuesday, June 25, 2013 - 11:29 AM

SEVEN West Australian players received All-Australian honours at the completion of the 2013 National Women’s Championships in Cairns last weekend.

They included defenders Fiona Boucher, Kara Donnellan and Kirby Bentley, on-ballers Rheanne Lugg and Dana Hooker, half-forward Shelley Matcham and full-forward Chelsea Randall, who all starred for WA during the course of the championships.

The event involved eight teams in two divisions, with Western Australia competing against Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales in Division One.

After convincing wins over Queensland and New South Wales, WA fought hard against eventual champions Victoria but couldn’t defeat their more experienced opponents in the Division One Grand Final.

ACT won the Division Two Championship.
