Round 6 WAFL PreviewFriday, May 3, 2024 - 10:36 AM - by Chris Pike

REIGNING premiers East Fremantle will be looking to build some momentum following last week's dramatic win after the siren when the Sharks take on Subiaco as part of Round 6 on Saturday.

It's a full round of WAFL action this weekend which includes Subiaco playing host to East Fremantle at Leederville's Sullivan Logistics Stadium in a match up featuring the teams who occupied the top two spots at the end of the 2023 season.

East Fremantle went on to win the premiership while Subiaco bowed out in the preliminary final, and coming into this Round 6 match up and the Sharks have a 2-2 record but just the four premiership points while Subiaco sits fifth also at 2-2.

After kicking the winning goal after the siren last Saturday for East Fremantle against Swan Districts, premiership player Jackson McDonald is hoping it is the start of the Sharks building momentum to continue this Saturday against Lions.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge against them. They've got a great side and a great midfield for us to come up against so that's going to be a good battle in there," McDonald said.

"It's always a tough contest whenever you play them but we're really looking forward to it and I think having won the premiership last year, every team kinda has us in their sights this year so you always know it will be a tough battle.

"But hopefully we can build off that win on Sunday and keep the momentum going."

The other Saturday afternoon Round 6 match ups include Peel Thunder taking on West Perth at Lane Group Stadium with Peel looking for a third straight win, and the Falcons out to bounce back from consecutive losses.

Claremont will also be at home to Swan Districts with the Tigers trying to make it consecutive wins while Swans are attempting to bounce back from that devastating loss to East Fremantle.

Last up on Saturday is South Fremantle playing host to Perth at Fremantle Community Bank Oval before on Sunday, East Perth faces the West Coast Eagles in a top against bottom clash at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.
